$5 Friday...Project #2 with white Kona cotton.

So, another great thing about Kona cotton is that it dyes well....so I've heard.....and so I wanted to try it.  Again, I wish I were getting paid in fabric....but no, it's just a personal opinion.

Project #2 is a lace skirt.  Two skirts actually.  I found some awesome vintage lace at the thrift store for $2.99 that I wanted to make into a lace skirt that was inspired by this even more awesome dress  (she is what I hope to be someday).  Again, I just made a simple skirt, layered the lace, and then sewed it on row by row.

I am loving the cream lace one on the white cotton....love it.

But then I decided to try dyeing the other one.....In my mind I wanted a coral pink.  But I got more of a "Tang-colored" skirt.....and I don't know about it.  I am definately not an expert at color mixing dyes yet....but there's always more dye and more crafting another day.  It will be cute for Spring.

Project total for two skirts.....$9.00.....one for Hannie and one for a thank-you gift.

  6. I really love this! I just saw a beautiful lace wedding dress for $30 while thrifting the other day. It could make quite a few of these skirts! Never occurred to me to dye it!
