A Vintage Dishtowel Apron Skirt. And a tutorial.
I got this idea when I was cleaning out my sewing closet and found a bunch of vintage embroidered dish towels that I had found at an estate sale last summer. I was wondering what to do with them and realized how cute they would be on a skirt. I know that it's probably not a new skirt idea....but here is my result.
This particular embroidered piece is actually a dresser scarf...so it has two embroidered ends. I took it to my local quilting store to match fabric and I love the way is turned out. Sorry I don't know the fabrics...and I serged off the selvedges....but I love, the pink and blue combo, very 1950's to me.
And below is the tutorial if you want it. It's a bit long so I put it into scribd....so it wouldn't take a million years to scroll through it on the blog. Happy sewing!
