The Starboard Skirt: A Fall Edition

So I have to be honest for a minute, I am still in love with The Starboard Skirt.  I know it's crazy to be in love with a skirt, but it's an easy skirt to make and looks like you paid a lot of money for it.  I won't even tell you how many I made this summer....because it's a bit embarrassing.

But I am here to tell you today NO MORE.  Because while sewing during the kid's challenge week from Elsie Marley a couple weeks ago, I sewed a new starboard skirt that I am even more in love with. 

I think I love this skirt because number one, it incorporates one of my craft fails, but in a MUCH better version and number two, it can easily be made in two lengths.....a knee-length, and a maxi skirt length.

(I have one of each cut out for me....but am debating whether I can pull off a maxi......we'll soon see.)

So, here is the updated Starboard Skirt for Fall.....

The bow really is even (just so you know)....she pulled it during the photo shoot.

I am so glad that I left behind the craft fail and tried again....yay for second tries!  And, the bow can be tied in the front or the back.  Love. Even. More.  (Why didn't I take a picture with it tied in the back?  Sorry.  It's darling in the back because you can see the cute pleats in the front.)

If you have made a starboard skirt....you will see it's basically the same pattern but a bit fuller with a couple of easy additions.

And the blouse....it's a 1950's pattern that I paid an arm and a leg for....but I LOVE to death (are you sickened by how many times I have used the word love yet?  Ok, I'll stop.)  It was a couple days of sewing but well-worth it!  I am hoping she can wear it forever to recoup some of the cost of the pattern :)
