Hair Therapy and $1,000 Sweepstakes

"Genius is of small use to a woman who does not know how to do her hair."
-Edith Wharton
I've always had a complicated relationship with my hair.

I think that I've tried almost every hair style ever invented:  bleached, dyed (brown, black, and purple), long to my waist, short to above my chin, permed, dreaded, braided, curled, waved, straight, crimped, and ratted.  And I've got the pictures to prove it...but fortunately for you I'll save the gory details (and photos) for another time.  Suffice it to say that I've changed my hair more often than some people change their socks.

But as of late I've let my hair go..well...wild.  It's not really short or really long it's just kind of big and crazy and unkempt.  Which doesn't really bother me until I have something come up where I have to be out in public at which point I have a mild panic attack and my poor husband spends roughly 72 hours trying to convince me that I don't look like a wildebeest.

It isn't pretty.  Especially of late.  I have a tendency to take on more than I can do (I'm sure none of you ever do that right?) and I just finished up a month of over extending myself that culminated in a 2 day public festival.

Then smack dab in the middle of the madness that was August I got a package in the mail from DOVE.  It was a bottle of their Intensive Repair Conditioner.  I laughed because if anyone needed "intensive repair" at the time it was me.  And I started to use it that night.

It smelled good but I didn't really think much more about it again until a week or two later when I was finished drying my hair and realized that I didn't need to put any product on it to smooth down fly aways.

Then I noticed that my hair really was softer and smoother than it had been before I had started using the conditioner.  It was an unexpected (and happy) surprise in an otherwise stressful month.

Now DOVE didn't change the fact that I am still in desperate need of a new haircut but it did make my hair ridiculously soft and look significantly healthier which has totally converted me from my old conditioner.  (Especially when I was at the grocery store earlier today and saw the price difference between Dove and my old brand.)  I will definatly be using this conditioner in the future.

I kind of love it when I come across something great when I'm not even expecting it.
Now as far as my hair is concerned...aside from trying a new conditioner I'm thinking about trying another new hair style---I'm 98% convinced that my next hair cut will be a "pixie".

What do you think?
Is there a hairstyle you'd like to try but haven't dared go there yet?
