I have been thinking lately about the art of homemaking and how it relates to family life. And I have come to the conclusion that I need to be more of a “fun mom.” Yes, I read to my children, teach them to do chores, cook with them, drive them everywhere…..but after vacation ended this summer I haven’t had a lot of time to play together with them. We have been on the go with various tennis and piano lessons, parties and other summer activities and in the last couple of weeks, time has slipped away for play. And I felt like we needed a few more of those fun moments before school started.
So, when we were asked if we would like to receive a guest pass to Chuck E. Cheese's, the “fun mom” immediately jumped on board and said yes. This was exactly one of those moments we needed before the school routines began.
And so off we went to visit this guy…..
(He is now affectionately called "Chuck E Please" in our house now)
We ate pizza and salads, played skee ball (I have to admit, I still love skee ball), rode rides, earned tickets and got to experience all the bright-eyes, smiles and sounds of a great family outing.
I have to tell you Chuck E. Cheese's was the perfect place for all three of my kids’ages right now. The ten-year-old was in video game heaven (and so was his dad for that matter), 7-year-olds, well I have found that they love every social event, and the 2-year-old was having a ball just running around taking in everything.
We spent just over an hour with the family and it was the perfect amount of time. With tummies full, drinks in hand and prizes won…..we all left happy. And while we were at the door getting our glowing-numbers checked out by a friendly teen (what a great safety feature for moms!), we met a group of giggling teens who were on their way into Chuck E. Cheese's to celebrate and have their own fun afternoon with the mouse too.
While looking at those giggling girls, I realized how fast they grow up.....
and boy was I glad to have taken that moment.

My family has never actually been to Chuck E. Cheese, but I would so love to take them! I remember some good times there when I was a child.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great place for kids of all ages.
ReplyDeleteI love Chuck E Cheese for so many reasons. I love that they kids can just go around and do whatever activity that they want and I can have fun too.
ReplyDeleteMy nephews love Chuck E. Cheese! I haven't been in a while. Like, I don't even remember the last time I was there. :)
ReplyDeleteWe've never been as a family (don't live near one) but I had lots of birthday parties there as a child. :)
ReplyDeleteReally, I'm not commenting to win. Why? I loathe "the Chuck" as we call it. I hate crowds. And a mass amount of loud children isn't my favorite, either.
ReplyDeleteMy husband just left for a deployment, and before he left he took my two boys there. Ever since, my younger boy has been asking, "When is daddy coming home and taking us to Chuck again?" I explained that daddy won't be home for a long time, and so he asked, "Mommy, can you take us then?"
I quickly explained that no- mommies are not allowed in the Chuck. Only daddies and grandparents. I'm pretty sure I get mother-of-the-year award for that.
Went last year for a birthday party and my 3 year old still recognizes it every time we pass one. It was that memorable
ReplyDeleteMy family love Chuck E Cheese. It's fun and a great place to relax.

It's good for my son and husband to go to b/c my son loves that sort of thing and he can't eat dairy at home (sister's allergies). So it becomes a good bonding place for the boys (and a break for the girls).
ReplyDeleteMy kids love all the tickets! They carry them around clutched in their hands while they play every game in the place.
ReplyDeleteMy family loves Chuck E Cheese because it's a fun place to play and celebrate birthdays

My three year old has decided that her birthday party is at Chuck E. Cheese, even though the closest one is over 200 miles away so a gift certificate would be super handy! :)

We always loved Chuck E Cheese because it was one of the few places that all of my kids enjoyed. When there are 3 kids with opinions, it's hard to find somewhere that they all want to be. Plus, what kid doesn't love pizza and what mom doesn't enjoy a salad bar?
ReplyDeleteBesides good pizza, fun games, and friendly service I love that they help encourage kids to get good grades and have cute useful charts online for potty training, clean room, oh and even no nose picking lol if they complete the goal they get tokens and what kid doesn't want tokens:) it's a win win for all<3

ReplyDeleteit's easy fun! don't go too often, and it takes mystical qualities--enough to inspire good behavior in the crankiest of my herd! ;)
ReplyDeleteThe pizza for sure!!
