Happy $5 Friday!
I feel like I haven't done a real $5 Friday post for what seems like forever so I'm excited to have something to share.
(Actually I made these pants in the middle of the summer and just never posted them...but since #1. I like them and #2. It makes more sense to post them now with colder weather coming instead of when the temperature is reaching triple digits...today is the day.)
Here's what my thought process was...I live in pajama pants (yes, I'm one of those girls) so, what if I make myself some "real" pants from a pajama pants pattern? That way I could almost be respectable while being comfortable! Genius!
So I pulled out a pajama pants pattern.
(That I bought at a thrift store for 50 cents...and seriously you can almost ALWAYS find pajama pants patterns at thrift stores so if you need one, I'd check there first.)
And I pinned it to some loosey goosey suiting material that I bought at Wal-Mart for $2 a yard.
Next I decided to change the pattern just the tiniest bit....
Instead of bringing the legs in with a slight taper I brought them straight down from the crotch.
Then I sewed them up as usual and tried those bad boys on.
It was everything I'd hoped for.
Comfort and near respectability.
Who could ask for anything more?
Happy $5 Friday.
PS---What's the deal with the black and white photo of myself you ask? Is she trying to get all artsy with her photos you say? No, no I'm not. Sheesh...what are you thinking?
The real reason is this: Sure I made the pants weeks and weeks ago and they've been worn all over but until last night at about 10 I hadn't remembered to take a photograph of them...so these pictures were taken by my husband in a room with TERRIBLE lighting which is against every rule in the photography handbook. So in an effort to camouflage the yellow lighting picture we went with a black and white version....
Procrastination not artistic license is the driving force behind the photos in todays post.
