I have talked about this before but I really am trying to use up fabric that I currently have as well as break into the scrap pile more often than buying new fabric. And it's been good for me (and the budget!). Before I would buy fabric that I "loved" and then look at it 3-4 months later and think "hmmm...I am not sure why I bought that." And then it ended up sitting in piles and piles. But no more! My fabric stash is down to 2 bins (that is a huge accomplishment!) and the eventual goal is ... View the Post
It Wasn’t What I Planned to Post…
I had another post planned for today...but decided that it could wait. (And maybe some of you have already seen it anyways...I accidentally posted it one day last week during the middle of the day for like an hour. Brilliant.) Anyway...I just wanted to say thank you. That's all. Just thank you. Thank you for stopping by. For reading our posts. For leaving comments. For sending emails. For everything. I was planning out my posts for the next few months and I realized how much I really ... View the Post
Perfectly Pink Shift Dress
I have been dreaming of Spring and shift dresses and my girlie has been dreaming of the "perfect pink" lately (she loves colors!) so we teamed up at the fabric store. She picked out a perfect pink cotton sateen and I picked out the perfect swiss dot for the top. I used our new bodice pattern (that really is coming out soon--we have been teasing you for too long) for the top and then a-line it out a bit at the bottom for the shift dress part. And we both love the result! (And the shoes for ... View the Post
The Art of Homemaking: Devotion and Duty over Moods
It's been awhile since we've had a daily dose of Daryl here on Tuesday and I've been missing her. So from 1967....here are some words of wisdom from Mrs. Hoole: I love that....homemaking IS a great career. And I love even more the idea of becoming "a professional" in the field. But the whole"...letting her devotion and sense of duty, rather than her moods dominate her...." well, that is a greeted with a little less enthusiasm from me. That's a tall order! Some days I'm just plain grumpy ... View the Post
Riley Blake Crochet Cozy
A few weeks ago I shared this handmade gift over at Riley Blake Designs, but today I am bringing it home..... Here's the story behind it. I was recently helping my mom clean out her craft room and we kept finding loose crochet hooks around the place.....one here, one there and quite a few more in her crochet basket. And an idea was born. She was in desperate need of a crochet cozy! I used just under a half-yard of fabric and it took about 1 hour to make---which is just the kind of ... View the Post
Off the Blog: What’s Going on Behind the Scenes in February
Today we are sharing a few things that are going on behind the scenes this month here at Simple Simon and Company: #1. Setting Up A Craft Room: I've been working on changing my preschool room into a craft room...it's been a long coming...over a year in fact. But because I posted about it here: "Just over a year ago I shut the door...." (and because it makes me cry) I won't retell the story. But I will say. #1. Thank you for all the sweet comments....I mean to respond to them, when I'm ... View the Post
