Today’s skirt tutorial, The Starboard Skirt, is from the archives but if you have never made one—they are my favorite skirts! Â They look great on all shapes and sizes from girls to women’s and all sizes in between. I honestly can’t believe this tutorial is from six years ago but it is such an ageless, classic style that it is still relevant today. And I have a few cut out for Skirting the Issue that I am excited to sew up.
The Starboard Skirt is a box pleated skirt that is made in two pieces with an elastic back that makes for a darling a-line skirt! You can see the full tutorial HERE…and make a few for Skirting the Issue and a few for other little girls in your life.
These skirts were made out of home dec fabric, but any heavier-weight fabric will work great. It helps the skirts hold their shape and hold the pleat in the front. So, if you have some heavier-weight fabric ready, you can sew up a few today!
