Today we are going to walk you through how to make a rag (or ragged) wreath.
First you need to gather your supplies. For this project you will need two things:
#1. A wire wreath form. (I bought mine at the Dollar Store…but you can buy a pack of 3 HERE for less than $12 from Amazon.)
#2. A pile of fabric cut into strips. I like to cut my strips into pieces about 1.5″ wide and 8″ long.
Now all you need to do is tie those strips onto your wreath form.
There isn’t one “correct” way to do this but I have found a method that spreads the knots out evenly and makes your wreath look nice and full.
Here is what I do:
I tie one strip of fabric around the middle two rungs:
Then I tie one strip of fabric around the inside two rungs and another strip around the outside two rungs.
When the three pieces are on the form they will look something like this.
Next I slide them all close together and start again in the middle and repeat the process…over and over again.
This is what it will look like from the front as the wreath is in process:
And from the back as the wreath is in process:
And what it will look like from the back when you are finished:
And then…before you know it… BAM! What it will look like from the front when finished:
This is a great scrap busting project and one that is fun to work on while watching late night movies.
