8 Bit Tulip Quilt
Last summer I got to take my whole family to visit my brother who has been living in Amsterdam.

I love Amsterdam…the canals, the food, the museums, and the flowers…especially the tulips.

So as I prepared for that trip, I thought about what quilts I wanted to make and take with me on that summer adventure.
I knew for sure I’d need to another tulip quilt. I’d made one for a previous trip to Amsterdam:

And I love it!
Sooooooo…..I decided to make a sequel:

(I promise to share the pattern or a tutorial for it quilt soon.)
When I finished the quilt I sent it off to the quilters but then started to think…I was going to visit my brother in Amsterdam…the land of tulips…my brother who I grew up playing Nintendo with…all those hours playing every variety of Mario Brothers games…with all its blooming tulips.
So back to the sewing room I went..cutting and sewing and loving every minute of it!
When I finished I had created a HUGE quilt…an 8 Bit Tulip Quilt..to pack into my suitcase….where it took up almost half of the space! But, I didn’t care how big it was. I loved it! And, I took it with me all over the Netherlands.

To places like Zaanse Schans…a magical little windmill town full of delicious cheese and adorable clogs.

Even though this is a fairly large quilt the construction was simple…row by row with squares and rectangles. Easy Peasy!
Which is probably why it was so easy for me to get carried away with myself down in the sewing room.

However, like I said, I have no regrets.
This is a fun quilt to curl up in and remember all the fun times we had in the Netherlands.

The land there really is beautiful…the blue skies, the water, the windmills, the architecture, and the flowers.

And I love all my memories from there….the food, the museums, the people…the places that I carried my quilts around to.

And my brother helping me out as my photographer. (He’s the best.)

I am officially addicted to making quilts to take with me to my vacation destinations.
Making these quilts makes me excited as I prepare to go on the trip and gives me a souvenir full of memories to wrap up in for years to come.
