Zipper pouches are one of my absolute go-to's for a handmade gift. I think I love them most because they are simple (don't be afraid of the zipper part....they are easy!) and I can whip one up in an afternoon which is a quick success when it comes to sewing projects. I have created a short tutorial to show you how I make my easy quilted zipper pouches and I hope that you will try one. (And then you might get addicted too ;) ) I made this one for a quick gift this last week. I added in some ... View the Post
Easy Fabric Bookmark
Do you need a fast and simple gift? Well, these easy fabric bookmarks are a little handmade touch to go with a store-bought book as a gift and are so cute sticking out of the side. And I love them because they won't damage a book! They are perfect sewing project for any age and are also a perfect scrap buster for tiny pieces of fabric that you have left-over from other projects. Hannie helped me with this one and the only part I did was the top-stitching (mostly because she had a friend ... View the Post
A Scrumptiously Pink Quilt
When I first started quilting...it terrified me. I imagined that there was "one right way" to quilt and that if I didn't know how to do it right....I couldn't do it. And this pink quilt is no exception to the imperfect quilt fact----but I know it ... View the Post
The Art of Homemaking: On measuring up…

How do you deal with days (or weeks) like ... View the Post

And the what-ifs continued.....for months before the conference started. But as we emailed out for teachers, sponsors, fabrics, and sewing machines....some of our fears were set aside. We knew the sewing community was fantastic, but little did we know how fantastic they were going to be. Babylock jumped ... View the Post
On kitchens, appliances and family….
When we said goodbye to our first house last month, it was a bittersweet day. I knew that it was the right thing to do, but leaving it was so hard. We went around and took pictures of the kids in every room, had some good cries and also some good laughs....and the kids talked about what each of them had done in all of the rooms. But for me? I would undoubtedly say that this was the hardest room for me to leave. The kitchen. My first kitchen. I sometimes have a divided relationship with ... View the Post
