A Fun Father's Day Idea: A Cereal Specimen Chart If there is one thing in this world my husband loves (besides me and the kids of course) it's cereal. The man REALLY loves his cereal. In fact, he would be happy eating cereal for all 3 meals everyday for the rest of his life. Seriously. So awhile ago when I saw a menu with actual pieces of cereal glued onto it I started thinking how I could adapt that into something funny for my husband. This is what I came up with: "The Cereal Specimen ... View the Post
It’s all about the boys.
In honor of Father's Day this week...and because there is always an unequal amount of girl projects that are going on around here, Liz and I decided to spend a few days (we'll see how many) next week focusing on our boys. Mostly because they all need new shorts, and a little bit of extra attention in the sewing, crafting department. So, here we go.And we need a cleverer name. Any suggestions? BTW, we got hacked this week. (That's probaly not the right term...) But some complete idiot decided ... View the Post
Summer Camp Chair Tutorial (That you can make yourself!)
When I was little my siblings and I had these little camp stools--and we used them ALL the time. I remember carting them around to parades, fireworks, campouts, bonfires, and every other summer activity that we did. Ahh, those were the days.... So, in my summer nostalgia, I was telling Liz about how I wanted to make some stools like I had when I was little for our kids. And so we started talking....and we came up with these summer camp stools for our kids. AND. THEY. ARE. AMAZING. They ... View the Post
$ 5 Friday– The “Love Boat” Dress…aka The Peasant Dress with Ruffle tutorial
....Pardon our dust today....our blog is a bit under construction.....hopefully we will be fully up and running soon! On to the dress: I have been thinking about a peasant dress with a ruffled collar for a long time now. And when I started googling a tutorial for one, I couldn't find one. So, in my crazy fashion, I made one up. And luckily this time it didn't have to go in "the-projects-of-doom-that-turned-out-horrifically" pile that is in my sewing cabinet (and is always pretty large). I ... View the Post
Pattern Remix. A pleated collar tutorial. (And you can make it for under $5)
Did you see us over at Me Sew Crazy yesterday and the "School Girl Dress?" Today is the tutorial for the pleated collar from that dress. One thing I love is classic styles...and this pleated collar is one of those classic styles that you can add to any dress to make it lovely. Here's how you do it. Step 1 The first thing that you are going to do it pleat your rectangle of fabric. I think it is much easier to do it this way and then cut your collar after. If you need a tutorial for pleating ... An Easter Post
So, one Easter outfit has been ready for awhile....it's just Hannah's dress that is giving me grief (dress #2 actually). Hopefully I can finish it up this morning and show you tonight...(if the weather is good enough for some pictures. I have this idea for a photo shoot.....and I need good weather.) I made Isaac's pants using Oliver + S's Sailboat Pants Pattern (this pattern was a total splurge for me).....but I love, love, love the way they came out. I used a heavier-weight twill fabric ...
