The Art of Homemaking: Family Traditions, Memorial Day

Family Traditions.  I'm big on them. And yesterday we kept one of my favorites.  Memorial Day. I know that memorial day means a lot of different things to a lot of different people....and that everyone has their own way of observing it.  From breakfasts to BBQ's and from public gatherings to private prayer. For my family we annually visit at least 3 different cemeteries (and often more).  We caravan with parents, grandparents, and siblings from place to place stopping in between for sodas ... Quilt

A Churndash Quilt

I got my Churndash quilt back from Melissa last week and am excited to get some binding on it today.  I think I am going with some sort of green but can't find what I want in my stash......which might mean a trip to the fabric store (who can resist that?).  This guy is a big quilt.....the finished blocks are 9 1/2 if I remember right and the quilt is 6 rows across and 8 down with sashing in between.  It's going to take quite a few nights of handsewing to get the binding on...but I promise to ... Behind the Blog: Hatching New Ideas…..

It's time for another installment of "Behind the Blog". Because we are celebrating our 4th blogging birthday we've been thinking a lot about who we are, where we've been, and "growing up".  In fact, Elizabeth and I have had a lot of late night meetings this month and have done a lot of thinking, and planning, and talking. We love what we do.  We love being moms.  We love being homemakers.  We love sewing.  We love crafting.  We love decorating.  And we love sharing all of those things with all ... View the Post

Giveaway

Handmade quilt giveaway….just for one of you

When liZ and I started this adventure of a blog 4 years ago, we had no idea that we could even do it, or that people would want to read about our crazy sewing (and non-sewing adventures)...and well, that we could even come up with projects to blog about for a whole 30 days.  And well, the rest is history.  We are still here...we are still having some crazy adventures and we are still sewing like nobody's business an it really is thanks to all of you. So, when we knew this blog anniversary was ... View the Post

A Pop of Color…A Sneak Peek…and A Confession

*This post is sponsored by Wayfair.  We were compensated for this post, but all opinions, like always are our own. Recently we were asked if we would like to participate in a "Pop of Color" campaign....to which we said YES!!!!  (A thousand times yes!)  And I didn't even have to think for a second about what I wanted to do.... Here's the confession. We have NEVER bought anything new for ourselves for our bedroom...15 years of marriage and we still live like college students.  I'm not kidding.  ... View the Post
