A Witch in Training….

I am so close to finishing up costumes.  Well, one costume that has taken me forever. I keep second guessing myself...but I am now seeing the finish line so I WILL show you on Friday.  ( I just need an hour or so with my glue gun to finish up the props and we are set!) And the other two costumes....they were store-bought.  Which at first made me sad.  I really wanted to continue the handmade tradition.  But I have since gotten over it....it's not the end of the world and it's what they wanted.  ... The Art of Homemaking: When Someone Yells Stop…

Besides the fact that when I ran across this saying I thought it was hilarious it's also kind of how I feel right now. I have a million different things always going on at any one time.(And a million other things waiting to be done.)So when I come to a sudden stop I can't always remember what I was in the middle of doing, should be doing, or what I need to be doing. Sound familiar to anyone else? Over the last few days I've been thinking about the crazy pace we've been keeping around here and ... Quilt

Scrappy Strip Quilt

One of my goals this year is to "use up my stash." And while going through my scrap bins a couple of months ago I found 2 quilt kits that I bought um.....probably 3 years ago? (best guess) This is the first of them...and I will show you the second a bit later (it's not quite done yet). Sheesh....it's a good thing I am doing clean-outs....you never know what in the world I am going to find in the way of fabrics. Well, the fabric was there all neatly packaged up....but I couldn't ... Super Scary Sewing Stories Week 3

Welcome to week 3 of super scary sewing stories.Be warned...this week may just be the scariest...and the pictures are freaky...You've been warned.  Story Number One comes from Terra over at Mama Says Sew:"So a lot of my friends know that I like to sew. But I think they overestimate my skill. Which is flattering, but it can also get me into trouble. Like when they volunteer me for things that are out of my league. For example: one of my friends told a girl she knows that I can sew and said that ... View the Post

When Hinges Creak… 5 Halloween Wall Decoration Tutorials for $5 Friday

Last week we posted about my Haunted Mansion inspired wall:  And this week for $5 Friday we are going to share how we made 5 of the items from the wall for less than $5. So let's get started. The very first thing I made for my wall was my two old crows picture: I had this weird old picture of two bath tubs...like I said weird... So I pulled the mat and pictures out of the frame: That's when I discovered the tubs were glued to the mat.  Oh well, that didn't really bother me.  I still went ... View the Post

Easy Paperbag Shirt Dress Tutorial

I have been working on a few pieces for fall this year.  Not too many...but I do have a mini-winter collection coming up in a few weeks, because I can't help but doing something with a color story....I just can't...but for fall I mostly did store-bought (boo...I wish I had more time). But for school, I have made a few things that are easy, comfy and still look super cute on for Hannie to wear year round.  And I decided an update to the tee-shirt dress was in order for school.  It's actually ...
