A Nine Patch Quilt.

This was the one quilt that I completed this summer.  I even took it on vacation with me! (I think only a nutty sew-er thinks about the sewing projects she is going to take on vacation with her...seriously.)  But it was relaxing and a stress-free sewing project...so it was fun.It is a nine-patch quilt with the leftover fabric from The Princess and the Pea projects (which in cased you missed you will see again on Friday) and  boy was I glad that there was enough leftover to piece together the ... Basting 101

Today we are over at Sew, Mama, Sew talking about basting.....and this doesn"t even involve any poultry!  Do online pokies you baste?  I do sometimes, but I should do it more often (one of my first sewing teachers was a big believer in basting---and she was an impeccable tailor!)....it really is a useful sewing skill.   See you there!!! ... The Get in Line Skirt or How to Sew Some Yarn onto a Skirt

Awhile back Mie asked if we would be interested in sewing along with her Sewing for Kindergarten series...and because Grace started kindergarten this year (and because I just love series like this) we, of course, said YES! Now for some reason Grace is pretty much convinced that she has to wear a "school girl skirt" or a "school girl dress" to kindergarten everyday.  So to make her happy we sewed her up another skirt to add to her collection. It's actually one that I planned for her Fall ... View the Post

$5 Friday: Wide Legged Pants from Pajama Pants (A How To)

Happy $5 Friday! I feel like I haven't done a real $5 Friday post for what seems like forever so I'm excited to have something to share. (Actually I made these pants in the middle of the summer and just never posted them...but since #1.  I like them and #2.  It makes more sense to post them now with colder weather coming instead of when the temperature is reaching triple digits...today is the day.) Here's what my thought process was...I live in pajama pants (yes, I'm one of those girls) ... View the Post

A Vintage Telephone Stand

I was out yard sale-ing with my mom a couple of summers ago when we came across this vintage telephone stand....and it was one of those "I hope the price isn't too high....because I have the perfect place for it."  And lo and behold the price was $8.00----SCORE!!!!! But the sad part was that the poor vintage phone stand then sat in my garage for 2 years....pathetic, I know.  Especially because every time I would walk by it, I would think, "I've got to get that done, it is perfect for this ... Jo-Anns’ Waverly Challenge: A Matching Sewing Apron & Machine Cover

Today I"m posting a project that was fun to make but I think would also be fun to give or receive: A matching sewing apron and sewing machine cover! I made the apron using the same basic idea and instructions that I used back when I made my first sewing apron: This new sewing apron is also made from a purchased apron. But this time I selected one that is white canvas, embellished it with Waverly fabric, and then I added my favorite part: The upside down measuring tape! I LOVE IT! It is so ... View the Post
