Skirting the Issue: I Love Beginnings But Am Not So Fond Of Endings

Although Skirting the Issue doesn't end until August 18th at midnight, today is the official last day of our Skirting the Issue posts.  And like I said in the title I love beginnings but am not so fond of endings. This year, as last year, I've been so touched by your emails, stories, and the items that you've made to donate.  Here are a few of the items that been uploaded to the Skirting the Issue Flickr Group: This darling dress and matching bag from Butterflies and Faeries.  These fun ... The Many Adventures of…….

This last spring, we took a Disney trip.  My husband had a conference there so we decided to take the opportunity to tag along.  We explored Epcot and all its food (I want to go back sans kids and explore more food), some of us went on the Tower of Terror (not me---total wimp here) and we had a great time. But for most of the trip I was alone with the kids, and because I have different ages of children who are at different stages of life.....finding something everyone wanted to do was sometimes ... Skirting the Issue· Thoughts

Because we could use a little Hamburger Helper….

No, this isn't a sponsored post. It's not really even about Hamburger Helper. But who can resist this little guy?(source)Let's start at the beginning. The other day Ruth and I were at the grocery store.  I needed to grab a few things for dinner, it was getting late in the evening, and I had a hungry family.  So as I'm whisking up and down the aisles systematically gathering the items on my list I came to a halt.   There in front of the tomatoes was an older gentleman reading something on his ... Skirting the Issue: Bereavement Gown Pattern

Today we'd like to share the links to patterns for Bereavement Gowns. The pattern I used to make the gowns pictured above came from this site: Angel Babies Info Once there click on patterns and you will find a downloadable pattern and step by step instructions for the "Tea Towel Gown". Heidi (the wonderful lady who runs the Angel Babies site) also has another pattern.  It is a different style and very simple to make.  The instructions for that gown can be found on her blog.  The direct ... Skirting the Issue Week 5: Bereavement Gowns

More than a year ago I was able to take part in a group that was making bereavement gowns for our local IHC's Angel Watch Bereavement Program. The original post is here:  Bereavement Gowns. It was a unique experience.  Since then I've talked to many women who have been touched by Angel Watch or similar programs.Every one grieves differently.  Some women have been thankful for the gowns, others a blanket they received, others have cherished a bracelet or piece of jewelry.  And while the items ... Skirting the Issue with Singer

Last week I was posting on Facebook about my sewing machine problems. You see, I had taken my machine in to be cleaned.(It's something I should do regularly but never do...however, after sewing together more than 250 skirts, 4 quilts, and at least 300 bags...aside from all the other dresses, blankets, and projects I'd put it through...I thought it deserved a little TLC.) I dropped off my machine and thought I could live with out sewing for a week........but I was wrong... SO I broke out my "back ...
