Spring Lookbook: Easter Dress

The next look for Spring was actually Hannie's Easter dress.  Well, and really it was her second Easter dress to boot.  The first one had some major issues ;(  So, the day before Easter when I finally succumbed to the fact that the first dress wasn't going to work, I got the idea for this dress and made it up in about 3 hours flat.  I made the bodice from a sloper and then drafted the collar to fit.  The back is a simple, invisible zipper and the whole thing was made from Kona cotton. (I love ... View the Post

Spring Lookbook: Raspberry Sorbet

........She wore a Raspberry beret sorbet.....(now you are going to be singing that song all day too.)  Good ole' 80's Prince.Because I always have to include a vintage pattern into my look-books, this dress is the vintage-goodness for this Spring.  It is made from this pattern and was not changed a bit (so unlike me at times).I fell in love with the asymmetrical bodice the minute I saw the pattern and have been saving it until it would fit.  I can see a lot more of these dresses in the ... Spring Look Book: The Inspiration

sourceThis week I will be showing you Hannie's Spring look book and next week liZ will show you Grace's.  Like  the outfits from last fall, both mini-collections are unique which we think keeps things fun.Mine, for example came from my latest obsession from the colors of sherbets.  Weird, I know, but I love sherbet....like love, love, love!!!! So, the look book was born from sherbets and the lovely shades of spring pastels that they are.Want a sneak peek of tomorrow's first look?Raspberry Sorbet ... $5 Friday—Trim. An inexpensive way to add interest

A super easy and inexpensive way to add interest to any skirt or dress is to add trim. When I buy trim for Gracie's skirts I always buy 1 and 1/2 yards.  (This gives me enough to put around a full skirt and have a little left over just in case :) This particular trim I bought at Jo-Ann's and after using a coupon it cost right around $2.  Not too bad.  And I loooooove it. But if you don't love the southwestern flavor as mush as I do there are laces, and ribbons, and sequence and a million ... View the Post

Works in Progress.

While busily finishing up Hannie's Spring look book (which I just have button holes to do on one more item!)  I have been slowly working on some other projects. I actually found this quilt top that I started over 2 years ago (it's probably way closer to 3 years ago) that I never finished.  It's funny because the fabric would not be my first choice today....but I remember when I bought it I was enthralled with the words written on it.  (It was when fabric was just coming out with ... The Love Bunny: Pattern and Instructions

Today we are over at the Moda Bake Shop sharing how to make Gracie's Love Bunny Skirt.  (She's wearing it in this photo although you can't see it very well.  But, you can head over THERE to check it out.) And while we are over there sharing the skirt we are over here sharing the pattern and instructions on how to make her matching love bunny doll. To make this love bunny you'll need to print out the pattern which you can find HERE. Once you have that printed cut out 2 of the bodies ... View the Post
