One sewing secret (although I don't think it is really that secret) that I like to do is to cut patterns out all at once. Once a week my husband has late meetings, so I usually use that time to cut patterns of things that I want to make that next week. It's the time of night that my kids are in bed, I can spread things out on the floor and make a huge mess while listening to a good movie. I usually spend 1-2 hours going to town pinning and cutting out every pattern that is in my ... View the Post
Holi Fest or The Story of What Really Happened to Gracie’s Hair
Yesterday on Facebook I posted a picture of Gracie's currently lime green hair and asked if any of you could guess what had happened to it...that was kind of an unfair question...there was pretty much no way you were ever going to guess. Sorry...I wasn't trying to be difficult...ok, maybe I was but today I'll explain what happened. Here's the story of how I turned Grace's hair green: Saturday was Holi Fest at the Sri Sri Radha Krishna Lotus Temple. It's an annual event and loads of fun so when my ... View the Post
A Five Minute Pillowcase How To and A Riley Blake Fabric Giveaway!

"Children deserve your best, not what is leftover."I have been thinking about that thought a lot lately...and have changed it to "my family deserves my best, not what is leftover." I am not sure what it is like at your house, but just about the time the big kids come home from ... View the Post

The Art of Homemaking—Looking Inside and Making a Change
"Your vision will become clear only when you can look into your heart. Who looks outside, dreams, who looks inside, awakes."---Carl Jung Three or four years ago when we started this blog one of the first things I started consistently posting about was "The Art of Homemaking". These posts were sparked by the second hand copy of a book entitled "The Art of Homemaking" written in the 1960's that I purchased for the kitchy illustrations but fell in love with when I read the words. That led me to ... View the Post
