So I am in week 4 of my Art of Homemaking Experiment. These past 2 weeks I've been working on my attitude and appearance.Let me explain how things are going by telling a story.Earlier this week I bought Grace a package of Grandma's Chocolate cookies just after Simon went to school. Each package has two cookies. When she opened it up she said "Wow! Two cookies! One for me and one for Simon!"Grace ate her cookie and then put the other cookie on the table and announced that she was going to save ... View the Post
$5 Friday– Vintage Pillowcases Backpack Tutorial
When I am out at the thrift store, I can't resist a vintage pillowcase. And that's the problem.....I now have a lot of them. So, I decided it was time to do something about my vintage pillowcase pile. (And I still have a quite a few more if you have any good suggestions....)Today's project is a simple one to do if you happen to have a pile of vintage pillowcases too. Thrifted Thursday—A Super Silly Simplicity Pattern
Yesterday I finally got around to sewing one of the first vintage patterns I ever purchased. It is a Simplicity pattern #6039 and was printed in 1965. I bought it a thrift store a few years ago for a quarter. The front cover (which is pretty beat up) claims it is "easy-cut easy-sew", only has "3 main pattern pieces" and is suitable to be worn for "play clothes".And since I've been a little under the weather this week I thought an easy project sounded like just what the doctor ordered...and I ... But let's face some facts here. My house doesn't always ... View the Post

A Green Vintage Dress
I finished up this dress over the weekend and am quite happy with it. Maybe because it's green and I am longing for warmer weather, or because it's a different take on a vintage dress than I usually do (I am trying to branch out) but it was a quick and fun project to work on.The dress came from this vintage pattern below, although the pattern is a size 6 and my 6 year old needs about a size 2/3 in vintage patterns so I basically used it as inspiration and made up my own. I pretty much stayed ... View the Post
