A Photo Session.

A couple weeks ago I signed up for a blogger's photography class by Emilie.  The class was this last weekend and it was amazing.  I really needed some more help getting all the way off auto and all the way to manual mode on my camera.  Really. Needed. Help. And I am so glad I went. I learned a lot more about light--specifically how to find and make soft directional light--and how to make your blog photos look great in MANUAL mode.  Here's the picture that we staged and then took in manual ... Happy Mother’s Day

Way back in February I was out thrift store hopping with Elizabeth when I ran across an entire set of these dishes! I couldn't believe my luck. Not only are they beautiful, and it was a complete set, but my mom collects them. I snatched them up at once. And yesterday I gave them to my mom for Mother's Day (minus the cupcakes which were devoured soon after this photos was taken by a couple of little girls I know.....) I love my mom. I love her mom. And I love her mom's mom whom I'm named after ... View the Post

On Being a Homemaker and the Art of Homemaking Revival

Awhile back I started a little homemaking experiment. And then I started posting about it on this blog. So now, every Saturday there will be a post about our adventures in the art homemaking or some sage ... View the Post

$5 Friday· Dresses· sewing

$5 Friday. A T-shirt Dress.

Every year I am on the hunt for cute white t-shirts with a cute detail of some sort.  Well, last year I found some really cute ones at Target, and this year I found these cute white tees at Walmart for exactly $5.  So I picked up a couple.  I think the ruffle detail at the collar is darling, and makes them look more expensive.  The rest of the fabric was from my stash.  The bow is actually a pin to take it off the dress before washing.  I dislike crazy-washed bows....hence the pin.I have had ... The Art of Homemaking Makes a Comeback

Ok...so awhile ago I was blogging about my adventures with a little "Homemaking Experiment" that I was doing using some of these little beauties from decades past: The experiment hasn't stopped but the blogging about it had until sweet Jessica from Sew Homegrown contacted me about it. Today I got the chance to post on her awesome homemaking blog about my favorite thing---being a homemaker. If you want to read more about it (or just to check out her coolness) click over to her blog. You can do that ... Last Minute Cinco de Mayo Ideas

Here are 4 fast and easy Cinco de Mayo ideas for a spur of the moment fiesta: #1. A festive headband. Sure, it's big. Ok, so it royal wedding huge but she can pull it off. (When your only two you can pull almost anything off). Besides, it's Cinco de Mayo after all so things should be big and bright and fun. And the best part is it's disposable. (It is made from strips of tissue paper held together by a twisty tie from a loaf of bread.) Here's how to make it---take some tissue paper strips ... View the Post
