The Art of Homemaking

Heaven Help Me…I’ve Failed Again.

For the last two weeks my assignment was to work on Chapter 4 from "The Art of Homemaking" which is entitled "A Place for Everything---Everything in it's Place". However, if you entered my home you would have thought the chapter was "Too Much of Everything---Nothing in it's Place".Literally.If you popped over to my house this afternoon you would find, among other things that aren't in their place, a chair from the van in my front room, the Christmas tree standing in front of a Halloween garland ... Thoughts

Thanks for the Great Weekend!

I just wanted to post a quick thank you for everyone who helped us have such a successful weekend. Oh Sweet Sadie was rad (as always) and the Family Christmas Gift show threw me right into the Christmas spirit. (Can you hear Bing Crosby singing Silent Night in the background?)As is usual, I forgot my lousy camera and so have no pictorial evidence of our shows. Nevertheless, we went, we saw, we shopped, we sold, and now we are tired. Very tired. But before I get to the task of sorting through ... View the Post

Peggie’s Done Different

Here's another horrible photo from my notoriously bad camera....It's of my new favorite project...peg dolls on canvass. Ok, so they aren't really peg dolls but little girls, made of fabric, and shaped like my peg dolls. I'm in love. This is a photo of the army of them drying on my kitchen counter tops last night. Tonight they are sleeping over at the Oh Sweet Sadie location out in Daybreak waiting for the show to open tomorrow. I miss them already. -z ... View the Post

Projects

Bandaids galore

Liz and I are getting ready for TWO (count 'em) craft shows this weekend which we have never done (or at least I haven't) and so I am sewing like crazy and hurting myself like crazy too.....I lost skin on one finger from an incident with a murderously hot glue gun, peeled the skin off another finger by pulling elastic through 20 casings (be forewarned it can happen) and then just now, putting a needle into my finger. Thank heavens it didn't go all the way through but there's quite a bit of ... View the Post

Facet No.4 A Place for Everything—Everything in its Place: Week 2

And so begins week 2 of Facet No.4.Let's see what advice Ms. Hoole has for me this morning."We as homemakers, set the standards for orderliness in our homes...Children are only an excuse, not a reason, for a cluttered house.""Perhaps it does require a second's more time to be neat and orderly initially, but ultimately considerable time is saved by not having to hunt for a pencil, the mate to a shoe, or the other stocking."This week I will be working on order...not organized order, just order. ...
