Today’s sewing for fall are some high-waisted polka-dotted pants. I really do love the look of skinnier pants on girls but when we went back-to-school shopping the “skinny pant” has become a bit too skinny for my taste level…and most of the time when the top of the pants fit, poor Hannie couldn’t even get the ankles over her feet…they were wayyyy too tight. So, we decided on some patterns and made her some. First up are the polka-dots and then we did some jeggings in the same style. I will show you those on Friday.
I started with this vintage pattern but made some modifications. I lengthened the capris and then made them taper down to her ankles. I did love the darts on the top but wanted them bit higher waisted, so I finished them with 3 inch wide elastic so they were easy on but still had a cute waist band. The fabric is a pretty stretchy cotton sateen (that I LOVE) so they can stretch on and off with the waistband.
And then we styled them two ways…..the first with a blouse I made back in the fall collection two years ago but still fits (barely) and then secondly with a white shirt and sweater so she will have lots of options for school for her new polka dots.
I have a couple of more things I have been sewing up to show you…..and a new pencil skirt for me that I am loving. See you soon!
