"They grow so fast." My 11 year old is into baking lately. It started when she wanted to make her own "rosette" birthday cake herself and every weekend she's been asking for some baking lessons. She picks the recipe, I make sure we have the ingredients, and then we bake. It's turned into a fun mommy and me time...and those moments with 11 year olds are fewer and farther between, so I will take all that I can get! Today for the Art of Homemaking Hannie and I are sharing one of our ... View the Post
Ella from Cinderella Costume
If you've been around these parts for Halloween....you will know that this girlie likes to be a pretty unique costume every year. We've done Audrey, The Birds' Woman, My Fair Lady and Jane from Tarzan are all back in the archives somewhere. And this year, she decided she wanted to be Ella from the new Cinderella movie....but not the gown dress...she wanted the peasant dress girl dress. But over the years I *think* I have tried and found some recipes that work super well for higher altitudes. Although there is one that I am still lacking....a moist and dense chocolate cake recipe made from scratch. That one is still a ... View the Post
Teen Room Makeover
We kind of did some room swapping this summer to give everyone a little more space...and I think they worked out great. Most of the things we used in the teen room makeover were re-purposed from other rooms, but a few runs to Target and Home goods helped out too for the accessories. Here's what we did.... ...
