The Miracle of Mediocrity This spring we had a lot happening. My oldest daughter was graduating from high school, we had family funerals out of state and close to home, I was coaching my youngest daughters volleyball team, I was sewing up quilts for several different families who suffered losses, I was still teaching full time at our local junior high (with classes filled beyond capacity), I was attending all the sporting and end of year events for my girls....oh and then....in the ... How to Make a BRR Basket
How to Make a BRR Basket My girls are obsessed with Brr Baskets/Brr Boxes right now….making them, giving them, and wanting them. As of a month ago I didn’t even know what one was. And now I feel like we are Brrr Basket making machines. But before I get to how to make one let me explain what they are. (In case any of you are like me.) A Brr Basket is a box, basket, or bin filled with goodies that you give to someone to warm their heart (and their feet) during the cold ... View the Post
Normal or Not…A Game
Normal or Not...A Game Over the past year I have spent a lot of time in waiting rooms, in hospital rooms, and in vehicles with various family members. During this time I learned a lot about my family members....I mean I thought I already knew practically everything about them but I was wrong! For example I realized that one of my brothers eats just like me...meaning that at a meal he eats all of one item before eating any of another item. I do the same thing...and I don't like my ... Hanukkah Quilt
Hanukkah Quilt I'm excited to share my Hanukkah quilt today....during Hanukkah! I made this quilt last fall using Riley Blake Designs "Festival of Lights" fabric to match a table runner that I made using a panel from that line. (You can see the table runner HERE.) But....I didn't get the quilt quilted or bound until this year. I'm glad that I finally finished it up...I love how it turned out. It is a small throw sized quilt that has been living on my couch next to the ... View the Post
UFO to TFO: An Olivia Quilt
UFO to TFO: An Olivia Quilt Over the past few months I've been working on my stash, pulling out my UFO's and making them into TFO's. That's right I'm dropping the U's and turning my UnFinished Objects into Totally Finished Objects...one project at a time. The first project I finished up is this Olivia Print Baby Quilt. I must have gotten this kit 10 or so years ago and it has been patiently waiting in its original plastic sack from the store since that time. Somehow I ... View the Post
Hanukkah Table Runner
Hanukkah Table Runner My family has celebrated Hanukkah for years. I love it. So when I saw Riley Blakes Hanukkah line I had to get some. From the yardage I whipped up a quilt....and then I found the table runner panel! It was so easy to use. It came it 2 separate pieces that I cut out and stitched together. Then with the extra backing left over from the quilt and some fusible batting I made a little quilt sandwich, pinned like crazy and "stitched in the ... View the Post
