I got obsessed with cabochons a year or two ago and bought a whole bunch off of etsy---and then discovered that you could make your own! I ordered the supplies over a year ago (the story of my life) but every afternoon I have been trying to come up with a project to do with the kids and found this one. Aaron wasn't too interested (and decided to do legos instead) but Hannah and I had fun. If you want to make your own cabochons you will need.... Both the Premo Sculpey and the Sculpey glaze I ... Pink Mambo Dress and a Giveaway
A couple of months ago, we were contacted about a new sewing book that was coming out and if we would like a preview copy. The book was so intriguing that we just had to say yes! The premise is so creative and it turned out to be such a fun little project. The book Sew Iconic by Liz Gregory is a book of sewing patterns based on 10 classic Hollywood film dresses. And you all know by now that we both love a good theme, so we were totally on board with recreating a classic movie dress. There were ... View the Post
The LA Fashion District–part II
Today I am sharing my pictures from LA. Yes, everything Liz told you is true....even the part about me holding onto the emergency exit door until the plane touched the ground. I am not a very good flyer in turbulence and the fact that we were landing in a CRAZY, ridiculous wind storm didn't help matters. But it was such a fun, whirlwind trip..... Here is the FIDM store....which is awesome! This is a must-do.This is The Loft which is part of Michael Levine. And this is what most of the fabric ... View the Post
An Updated Units Style Jumper
I warned you I'd be posting another Units project today... and I really like this one. A lot. Back in the day when I wore "Units" I had a particular favorite. It was a one piece, grey and white striped, sleeveless, boat neck jumper. I LOVED it and wore it all the time with either a white or hot pink waistband. So when I decided to revisit Units in my drafting class I knew I wanted to remake that outfit into a modern one for Gracie. So I started with the jumper idea and made Gracie's outfit ... $5 Friday– Bowtie Flip Flops
We are a flip flop family in the summer. My kids have been counting down the days until they can wear flip flops (their school dress code doesn't allow them...and even though I have heard for weeks about how everyone else is doing it....we are trying to follow the rules.)But, summer is almost here!!!! YIPEEE!!! And that means it is flip flop time! I found flip flops recently for 98 cents (now that is a deal) and so I bought three pairs of pink for Hannah. And since I have a pink girl, I am in ... An Updated Pillowcase Dress. A Tutorial.
A couple of weeks ago while shopping I came across a darling little jumper for a little girl at H&M. I almost bought it (it was around $10 or so) but then when taking a second look at it realized it was just an updated version of a pillowcase dress. So, I came home and made one. In 30 minutes. My kind of quick, naptime sewing project.I did take a few pictures along the way to make a quick tutorial. Here's how I did it....I was making a TALL size 6/7 and since I want her to be able to wear it ...
