What I Learned From My Home Renovation

As our home renovation project of doom is coming (hopefully) to a close I have been thinking about what I've learned from this whole experience. When we moved into our new-to-us home two months ago with only our three kids, a few bags full of basic necessities, and a plan...leaving all other worldly possessions in storage...we thought we knew what we were doing. Boy were we wrong. However, I think we have gotten a lot accomplished in those two months...in that time we have repainted ... View the Post

15 Minute Homemaking Tasks

This post is PART II of a series of posts...mostly for me....but hopefully you can benefit from some of them too.  I am hanging up lists of 5, 15, 30 and 60 minute homemaking tasks that I know I can do in that amount of time.  So, when I have a few extra minutes throughout the day I can choose one or two and accomplish more during the day.  A couple of weeks ago I shared PART I which was the 5 minute tasks that you can find HERE and today I am sharing the list of tasks I can accomplish ... Sedef's new fabric line was designed for Riley Blake designs and was so sweet I knew immediately that I wanted to make a baby quilt with it! And a coin quilt would allow me to not only use a lot of the different prints in her line but is a quilt that sews up in a hurry! Let me show you how I put it together:   ... View the Post

The Art of Homemaking: On Letting them Help

My girls always want to "help". Help with dinner. Help with dishes. Help with housework. Help with washing the dog. Help with everything. But usually the "help" of an 8 and a 4 year old is actually just more work for me. So I tend to brush them off...and give them jobs like: Make sure everyone's shoes are put away or put a fork by everyone's plate for dinner. However, if you follow us over on Facebook you've heard about the home we bought and the renovation projects ... View the Post

No More Skipped lunches….

As soon as my feet hit the floor every morning I feel like it's a race against the clock...everyday. Get everyone up, dressed, and fed. Take the dog out, change the laundry, let the dog in. Get everyone settled into an activity or playing with friends. Hit the gym. Fill the car up with gas and start making dinner....when suddenly I to realize I haven't eaten ... View the Post
