The Art of Homemaking: On Slowing Down…

(source) Both liZ and I feel like we have been running ragged these last couple of months and with summer break beginning this next week I was trying to think about summer goals. I was thinking about making calendars with an activity to do everyday or a summer "bucket list" or getting bins ready to keep everyone busy. And then it hit me.....I don't want to do any of those things this summer, I just want to slow down.  Not that there is anything wrong with summer "bucket lists" or planning ... View the Post

Easy Ruffle Pencil Skirt

Today we have an easy pencil ruffle skirt to share with you. Last week I finally took 30 minutes and made myself something! Using 1 yard of ruffle fabric and the tutorial we wrote for HOW TO MAKE A PENCIL SKIRT I whipped this out in between quilt market projects. Building Blocks Quilt Pattern (FREE PDF PATTERN!)

Every Friday night our family tries to do "movie night." Although it is getting harder the older everyone gets, we still try to make it a tradition to have pizza, treats and a favorite family movie....and sometimes a huge sleepover in the basement. I love that it's a good way to unwind from the week and when everything is dark and still I love to peek around and find everyone cuddled in a homemade quilt, snuggled warm and cozy. I finished this quilt a while ago to add to our "family movie night" ... The Art of Homemaking: It isn’t always about YOU (or me)

Awhile back I was grocery shopping when I saw a woman who lives nearby. Our paths had crossed several times but we didn't really know each other however I decided to go over and say hello. Which I did. Her response was nothing more than eye contact, a blank stare, and her going out of her way to back up her shopping cart and drive it around me. What the heck? I had gone out of my way to talk with her and she totally snubbed me! And from that day on I put her on the ick ... View the Post
