Zipper pouches are one of my absolute go-to's for a handmade gift. I think I love them most because they are simple (don't be afraid of the zipper part....they are easy!) and I can whip one up in an afternoon which is a quick success when it comes to sewing projects. I have created a short tutorial to show you how I make my easy quilted zipper pouches and I hope that you will try one. (And then you might get addicted too ;) ) I made this one for a quick gift this last week. I added in some ... View the Post
The Art of Homemaking: Like Mother Like Daughter
Like mother...like daughter On Mother's Day I found this picture of Grace shoved under a pile of books on the table. When I asked her what it was she grabbed it out of my hands and said it wasn't for me. But why? Who is it for? No one!!! (And she started to cry.) After some time on my lap and some rocking in the rocking chair she told me all about it: In her class on Friday they took pictures of themselves to give to their moms for Mother's Day and she RUINED her picture. RUINED ... View the Post
Easy Fabric Bookmark
Do you need a fast and simple gift? Well, these easy fabric bookmarks are a little handmade touch to go with a store-bought book as a gift and are so cute sticking out of the side. Hannie helped me with this one and the only part I did was the top-stitching (mostly because she had a friend ... View the Post

In my excitement last week I forgot about setting some party rules. So we ... View the Post
Quilt Block Pocket Tutorial
Today I have a Quilt Block Pocket Tutorial to share with you. I posted it awhile back over at the Moda Bake Shop but today I'm brining it home. (I love this idea and have been making quilt block pockets like a crazy person ever since posting it!) ***** If you are anything like me after you finish a quilt you end up with a few orphaned quilt blocks...and then you don't have the heart to throw them out...so you keep them...and they wait for another chance to shine. Well, recently I found ... View the Post
A Scrumptiously Pink Quilt
When I first started quilting...it terrified me. I imagined that there was "one right way" to quilt and that if I didn't know how to do it right....I couldn't do it. But over the last 2 or so years that I have made quilts I have come to realize two things-- (1) There is no right and wrong way of quilting (just ask quilters how they press their seams!) and (2) it doesn't have to be a perfect quilt to be loved. And this pink quilt is no exception to the imperfect quilt fact----but I know it ... View the Post
