Easy Fabric Bookmark

Do you need a fast and simple gift?  Well, these easy fabric bookmarks are a little handmade touch to go with a store-bought book as a gift and are so cute sticking out of the side.  And I love them because they won't damage a book!   They are perfect sewing project for any age and are also a perfect scrap buster for tiny pieces of fabric that you have left-over from other projects.  Hannie helped me with this one and the only part I did was the top-stitching (mostly because she had a friend ... Saturday Sewing Linky Party

Saturday Sewing at Simple Simon and Company Linky Party #2

Hello Ladies! Welcome to our Saturday Sewing at Simple Simon and Company Linky Party #2.  (Hooray for week two!)  As we said last week this month marks our 4th blog birthday and to celebrate we decided to throw a year long party that you are all invited to. Seriously...what could be more fun than to invite you all over to our place once a week to talk sewing?  (Nothing...unless it was meeting all together in person.) In my excitement last week I forgot about setting some party rules.   So we ... View the Post

Quilt Block Pocket Tutorial

Today I have a Quilt Block Pocket Tutorial to share with you. I posted it awhile back over at the Moda Bake Shop but today I'm brining it home.  (I love this idea and have been making quilt block pockets like a crazy person ever since posting it!) ***** If you are anything like me after you finish a quilt you end up with a few orphaned quilt blocks...and then you don't have the heart to throw them out...so you keep them...and they wait for another chance to shine. Well, recently I found ... View the Post

A Scrumptiously Pink Quilt

When I first started quilting...it terrified me.  I imagined that there was "one right way" to quilt and that if I didn't know how to do it right....I couldn't do it.  But over the last 2 or so years that I have made quilts I have come to realize two things-- (1) There is no right and wrong way of quilting (just ask quilters how they press their seams!) and (2) it doesn't have to be a perfect quilt to be loved.  And this pink quilt is no exception to the imperfect quilt fact----but I know it ... I Need Your Help about a DIY Goodbye…

Right now I'm feeling really torn.  For the next three days I am locking myself inside and going through my house to get rid of items that we don't need.  It's time to lighten the load...by tons.  I can feel it and my husband and kids can feel it.  We just have too much stuff. (Seriously...I have stuff coming out my ears...it's time to do some real soul searching and, like the song says...."Let it go!") And while I could (and probably should) write an entire post about this process and how ... View the Post

The Art of Homemaking

The Art of Homemaking: On measuring up…

Do you ever have those weeks where you feel like you are failing everything?  The laundry is stacked like Mount Everest, everyone needs to be at different locations (with you) at the exact same time, there is no bread for lunches, and no one can find anything that they own?  Not my best days in the art of homemaking.  Well, that is my house this week... And weeks like these can get so overwhelming.  I am hoping that most of you can relate in some way.  How do you deal with days (or weeks) like ... View the Post
