Off the Blog: What’s Going on Behind the Scenes in February

Today we are sharing a few things that are going on behind the scenes this month here at Simple Simon and Company: #1.  Setting Up A Craft Room: I've been working on changing my preschool room into a craft room...it's been a long coming...over a year in fact.  But because I posted about it here:  "Just over a year ago I shut the door...."  (and because it makes me cry) I won't retell the story.  But I will say.  #1.  Thank you for all the sweet comments....I mean to respond to them, when I'm ... Shot Through The Heart: My Valentine’s T-Shirt

Why yes, yes I did totally make myself this t-shirt to wear today. Well....actually it wasn't all me...it was a collaborative effort...with myself, Elizabeth, and some guy named Cameron who has a magic beard and embossed business cards. Here's the story:  Elizabeth and I were invited to a party to a Cricut Explore party.  (Which was lovely...they had all my favorite treats...soda, Hi-Chews, popcorn, candy, more soda....)  But instead of circulating and hanging out like most normal people do at ... An Easy Valentine Skirt

I have a girlie that is out-talling all her clothes---her jeans, her dresses and her skirts have all become wayyyy too short.  So, we are trying to make the winter ones last and adding some Springy things into her wardrobe for the rest of the school year.  I keep telling her that her jeans are making darling capris, but I am not so sure she is buying it so it's a good thing she is still wearing boots to cover up the fact that they are shorty-mc-shortens. And just yesterday I was staring at this ... View the Post

Seams Unlikely….

When we were asked recently if we wanted to review Nancy Zieman's new book...the answer was undoubtedly YES!  Nancy Zieman....she is the queen of all things sewing and I grew up watching her series on PBS.  And her book is exactly as I thought is would be...delightful. She talks about her growing up on a farm in Wisconsin, overcoming Bell's Palsy, and her sewing career in all its paths.  And how it all started with one 4-H demonstration of showing how to put on a waistband. She says, "There is ... View the Post

The Art of Homemaking: To be content with what we are….

I have needed this quote lately but let me first start with a little back story. I have been a little bleh lately. Do you ever get that way? It started about last November and with hustle and bustle that the month of December always is......by early January, I could feel that it had grown from bleh into a full-blown funk. I talked to my husband about it one night early last month. "I can't figure out what's wrong---but I am in a funk." "I've noticed," he replied. "What can I do?" "I don't ... View the Post
