The Sally Dress Tour

When the lovely Shannon asked if we would take part in the Sally Dress Tour....I gladly said yes, because Shannon is one of the nicest bloggers we know.  Seriously.....she is the best.  And a beautiful sewist.  And a great momma to her girlies.  And a magnificent knitter.  And just all around cool. But here's my problem.  Remember the days years ago when I was complaining because this girlie would only wear dresses, or skirts?  Well, you probably don't.  But I do.  As if it were yesterday. And ... Girls· The Art of Homemaking

The Art of Homemaking: We need women…

Recently I've been thinking a lot about what kind of a role model I am for my girls. What I want them to see from me...and what kind of an example I am setting for them. Grace, especially, is old enough that she watches what I do, values what I value, and currently is my little shadow.  I love her so much and want her to always be as wonderful as she is right now...without her becoming tainted by my inadequacies. And so reflecting on the mother and women I ought to be is something I find ... View the Post

Halloween· Quilt

A Halloween Quilt.

A month or two ago I decided to clean out the fabric scrap bins (yes, it is embarrassingly bins).  So, I went through all of them and started sorting them by color.  I threw away small pieces (I know some of you are cringing right now), gave away two grocery sack of others...and then got down to one bin of my own!  Major improvement. And when I was done the oranges and grey scrap piles ended up next to each other...which made me think it was time to cut them up into a Halloween quilt.  Which ... View the Post

Giveaway

Because sometimes you just need some peace and quiet…

Over last weekend our house was pretty loud.  There were vacuums going, friends playing over, music blaring (dance parties are a new thing around here) and it was just plain chaos.  Which is fun and exciting and I generally like the sounds of everyone home....but it can get a little loud. And the three-year old....well, he is use to staying home with mom all day and hearing just us talk and the whirl of things like his mom's sewing machine.  So, when all the general chaos was going on and he ...
