A Valentine Skirt.

Last week I made Hannie a skirt for Valentine's Day.  I should have been working on a costume for a 5th grade wax museum project, but I just wanted to sew something fun.  I started with The Vintagely Modern Skirt as the base.  The only alteration I made to the original skirt was to make the waistband larger and added extra-heavy fusible interfacing to make it stand up well.  (I cut the waistband piece 6.5 inches so the finished waistband is 3 inches tall.) I then added the heart pocket.  I ... View the Post

Valentine’s Day Quiver with Arrows to Deliver Tutorial

Right now Grace is obsessed with the movie BRAVE.  And she is dying for her own bow and arrow set.  So the other day while Ruth napped and we had the house to ourselves we made up some super easy arrows for her to give out on Valentine's Day and a quiver for her to carry them in. Sure, it's not an official BRAVE set but for now she's pretty excited and I think they will be fun for her to hand out on Valentine's Day.  So I thought I'd share with you how we made them in case your little girl ... Thrifted Thursday: A Sweatshirt Refashion

I have a huge refashion pile that is waiting for me, and this lucky sweatshirt was sitting on top when I decided that I need to start tackling the pile.  So, I started with it. The sweatshirt was originally a Boy's Large but I wanted to make it something for Hannie, so I chopped some of the width out of it, made the sleeves puffed sleeves and added a cute Peter Pan collar to it. One thing you have to know is that this sweatshirt is so much cuter in real life.....sorry, the picture was taken on ... Almost MC Hammer Pants…A How To

I made Grace these pants back somewhere around Thanksgiving time...but never posted them. (Strange as it may seem I don't always blog about everything that I make...like the kooky shirts I made for the boys in my preschool class or the GALLON of salsa that I made the other night.  Nope, your never going to see any photos of those things, they're just embarrassing.  But a pair of almost MC Hammer pants...you better believe it.)  Anyway, I meant to post about these pants because I like them. And ... Pom Pom Necklace

This post was originally posted for Elegance and Elephants "Knock off" series, but we are bringing it home today. My only regret when I made these is that I didn't buy ten packs of those cool disco-like styrofoam balls.  I would love to use them a million other ways..... I am totally in love with anything Olive Juice clothing does and this darling pom pom necklace is no exception.  Simple, childlike but still so darling on an outfit. source I also figured out that it would also be ... The Love is in the Air Skirt (with Printable Template)

Every year I make Grace a skirt for Valentines Day.  (Remember last year I made her the All You Need is Love Skirt and then later I made her the Love Me Two Times Skirt.)  Well, this year I wanted to combine the felt from the first skirt with the cotton skirt of the second one and I came up with this:  The Love is in the Air Skirt. It is a simple elastic waistband skirt made of cotton fabric with felt pieces that I held in place with fabric glue and then embroidered around with a running ... View the Post
