Ruth’s Ruffled Bodice Tutorial

Last Friday I posted these dresses that I made for my girls. And then I had several emails about how I made the detail on the bodice of Ruth's dress.  So today I'm going to share with you what I did.  It was really easy and you can add this little ruffle piece to ANY bodice that have or like to use. To start with I cut 2 of the exact same bodice front pieces (the green polka dot fabric). ***Remember you can do this with any bodice of your choice from pretty much any pattern that you ... The Art of Homemaking: Wash Your Shoes

Not last Saturday but the Saturday before I knew that I would be writing this post...and after the experience I had last night I decided that the time to write it is now. Forever and always before I've donated any clothes to any charity I've washed them first so they are clean and smelling good.  I do this always.I figure that whoever gets them will appreciate getting something clean and fresh....especially if they are in a disaster or crisis situation.  If I was in need I know that clean ... So….there’s this contest…

over at Pins & Needlesand this is what we made: And here's the story behind it:This summer we got a nice email from Pins & Needles (a sewing and needlework shop in New York City) asking us if we were up to participate in a "surprise sewing challenge".A surprise sewing challenge?I don't even need to think about an invitation like that.  The answer was yes, yes, and yes. A few weeks later we got the most adorable little package in the mail and here's what it included: 3 pieces of fabric, some ... Gracie’s Graffiti Jeans–A Tutorial

I am loving all the printed jeans I've seen lately...and I really wanted to make some for Grace. So this week when I was out and about I bought a really inexpensive pair of jeans and a bleach pen and went to work. There are several ideas that I wanted to try that involve bleach but I started with graffiti. Actually the idea was originally to make one of the leg panels look like the subway art that is everywhere but then I decided---it is everywhere---it doesn't need to be on Gracie's pants as ... Lookbook· Thoughts

I still love Navy Blue.

I have had this pile of fabric sitting on this bench since before July......and it is calling to me.  So, I am finally getting to it this week. You see, liZ and I have had these grand plans for a couple of years now to sew a full "Lookbook" wardrobe for our girls.  We have talked about it FOREVER and decided last Spring (before we went to LA for our fabric-shopping trip) that this Autumn/Winter was the year!!!!  We were each going to make 5 or 6 coordinating outfits for our girls and put ... Messenger Bag Tutorial

Over the summer we were invited to participate in a fun series with Melly Sews where we had to sew something for one of our boys that was inspired by a song. I had a million ideas...some that are partially completed and will yet be shared however, it was this crazy thing that I ended up sharing.... ...so if you missed it... ...here's the most random project ever, in it's entirety, just the way I sent it.... (sometimes I wonder about myself) Hi.  It's me...liZ from over at Simple Simon ... View the Post
