Dresses· Girls· sewing

A Back to School Peasant Dress.

It is still hot as blazes here....but we needed a new and quick back to school dress.  So a 30 minute peasant dress and some Old Navy leggings did the job perfectly.  I cut the dress a bit longer, shirred 4 or 5 rows to make it drop-waisted and added a ribbon on top and we were done!P.S.  Liz and I are still recovering from our craft market-experience which went so well.  We promise to tell you all about it soon.A huge thank you to all of you who came and introduced yourselves..... we get a ... $5 Friday

$5 Friday—By the time you read this…

By the time you read this Elizabeth and I will be knee deep in the mother of all craft fairs. Hopefully I'll have the rest of these skirts (in the picture above) finished...I still have lots of elastic to thread. Right now it's, well it's late late late Thursday night...and I need to get back to work. Only a few hours left until go time. Wish us luck. liZ PS---I think these skirts are my favorite thing we made for this weekend...I went a little crazy and made piles of iron on ... View the Post

Thrifted Thursdays

Thrifted Thursday. A Vintage Yo-Yo Quilt.

I found this spectacular quilt at at thrift store this summer and was so immediately drawn to it.  It is so beautiful and just about everything I love wrapped into one fabric package.  Vintage fabrics, simple repetitive-style, great colors, and textural appeal--everything I love about sewing--this baby has got it all.The yo-yos are perfectly sewn together. And the fabrics are just. plain. awesome. It is to date my favorite find ever.P.S.  We finished setting up our booth last night....and it was a ... Thoughts

Wicked

So I guess this post is as close as I'll ever come to a "What I Wore Wednesday"... I bought this shirt over the summer when Elizabeth and I made our day trip over to the LA Fashion district.  I kind of love it but haven't had a reason to wear it until last week when I went to see Wicked. I hadn't ever seen Wicked (I know...I'm behind the times) but it was really great.  I loved the story, the set, and the costumes...dude...I LOVED the costumes.  They had this great steam punk/ 80's vibe...and ... Projects

A Project of Unusual Size…..

Things have been a little quiet here on the sewing front.  But, we promise it's for a good reason.  We have been working on a project of unusual size.....that has involved a LOT of sewing and a lot of hot glue.  We are doing our one and only craft market this coming weekend, and it's been a big job. We have been on the phone joking with each other at the end of conversations that we are going back to our "sweatshops" aka sewing rooms to try and get stuff done.  The projects have been fun, but ... Guest Post· Pattern Drafting

Draft your own Drawstring Pants Tutorial.

We showed these pants earlier this summer at Kojo's Color My Summer but we are now bringing the tutorial home.  So, here it is again....just in time for back to school! Hi Kojo-ers!  We are Elizabeth and Liz from Simple Simon and Co, two girls who married brothers and ended up with the exact same name.  Super confusing?  Um...yeah.  Over at Simple Simon and Co we blog about our adventures into the art of homemaking, our love of vintage and thrifting, as well as our crazy sewing ...
