The Art of Homemaking· Thoughts

The Art of Homemaking—It’s Time to Bring Back the Experiment

It wasn't until I had a visitor drop by the house (which was covered in laundry in various stages of being folded) that I realized how bad I had let things get.  Since having baby Ruth almost 3 months ago we've had a lot going on.  Everything from return visits to the doctor and hospital dealing with complications ... Randomness

Today I have sinus pressure that is mounting like no other....(please don't let it turn into a sinus infection....) and it's one of those days that the schedule is FULL, FULL, FULL.  From 9 am to 9 pm. I am praying that I make it.In other random news, after the holiday bazaar last weekend I have 4 dresses left.  Most of which are very fallish/wintery colors...so I want someone to be able to use them....if you are interested email me (I am even too lazy to list them on Etsy this morning.)  I will ... Projects

Of Flooring, Mustaches, and Artists Or One Thing Leads to Another

This was one of the projects from the community art class that I teach on Saturday mornings. We did a quick little activity with a sharpie, a colored pencil, and a pipe cleaner to get us in the creative mood. In case you are wondering, they are portraits of the artist Salvador Dali who had a wicked awesome mustache. I saw a project similar to this awhile back but had forgotten about it until the other night when.... ...we were up with our kids at like midnight still pulling off base boards and ... View the Post

Best {and Easiest} Pumpkin Cake Recipe Ever

I know that we are NOT a cooking blog....but when we have the best and easiest recipes ever, the ones that become fast family favorites....we just have to share. I know that anyone who knows us is expecting some great sewing project....but I just can't let this season of Thanksgiving pass without sharing the BEST {and easiest} Pumpkin Cake recipe that I have ever found. It really is the most pumpkinny (ok...I know it's not a word), moist and best cake ever.  I crave it.  A lot, especially ... View the Post

Celebrations

A Thanksgiving Garland

This is a bit emabarrasing to admit....but I haven't yet decorated my house for Thanksgiving.  Am I the only one?  I hope that there is at least one other person out there who hasn't.  I hardly decorated for Halloween too because we have a one-year old around here who is cute as a button....but is also a wild climbing man.  If he sees something up high that he desperately wants, there is no telling what he will do to get it.  So, decorating this Fall has been sparse and simple.  But at this ...
