Thrifted Thursday– Happy as a Lark….

I think that these beauties may be one of my most favorite thrift store finds--EVER.  (Ok, I think I may have said that before, but it wasn't true...these really are my favorites.)Here's the background on them.  Liz and I were at our favorite Savers.  And Liz found what we thought were these amazing patterns for these 1960's embroidery kits.....and we were excited.  And then we turned them over.  And realized....that THEY. WERE. DONE.The stitching is impeccable and all four are even basted and ... View the Post

The Book of Ruth

I'm the kind of girl who wants to know a story from the end to the beginning. Anyone who knows me knows that I read the last page of every book before the first page. Every time. I like to know what I'm getting into. I like to be able to brace myself for any sudden blows---and know that when they come everything will be alright in the end. Like I said:I'm that kind of a girl. Mix that with my insane need to control everything and that makes pregnancy for me a scary experience. Will I ever even ... View the Post

A SEW ALONG–The Vintage School Girl Jumper

I have had this in the works for a while now...and it is finally time to share! So.... LET'S DO A SEW ALONG!  Ok?  OK.  Here's what we will be making... It is my interpretation of this vintage 1950's pattern. * Please note--It is NOT this exact pattern...it is my own interpretation.  You will make your own pattern for the size jumper you need using an old, stained tee shirt that you don't mind cutting up. Even vintage patterns are still copyrighted. (The wind was blowing in our ... View the Post

We’re Bringing Back the Skort!!!

Awhile back Elizabeth and I were talking and she mentioned that we should bring back the skort. The very next day I decided that not only did I want to make a skort but I wanted to make a jumper skort and cut out this outfit for Gracie. I used a 1970's baby boy jumper pattern and then added in the skort and ties. Because it was a boy's pattern I went with some retro boy's fabric and then added some vintage buttons. But because it was an outfit for my little girl I still wanted it to be ... View the Post

$5 Friday

$5 Friday–Wanna see a $5 craft fail?

Ok, ok, in my brain this was going to be a darlingly cute skirt. Reality---not so much. But the pictures made me laugh hysterically today. You see this inspiration (it's no longer there but that is where I got the image from) that I found and pinned and thought was so cute. As a side note, I love to look at Japanese children's clothing...there are some cute things. A giant bow on a skirt. Darling.  (This was pinned long before I saw giant bows on everyone's skirts that turned out much cuter ... View the Post
