Recently my mom has been collecting vintage patterns and as I was looking through her pile I came across a 1965 pattern for this little dress and fell in love. A go-go dress is perfect for my little Grace! And when I saw this orange fabric in my fabric bin I knew it would be a match made in sewing heaven. The pattern called for a hook-and-eye closure at the top but I opted to put on this groovy vintage button instead. (Any time I can add a vintage button onto something I am a happy girl.) *Oh, ... A Circle Skirt…..WITH POCKETS! (And a tutorial for the pockets)
When I first starting sewing again about 4 or so years ago I started with three things.....pillowcase dresses, pinafores, and circle skirts. And I sewed A LOT of them. A LOT. Hannie had pillowcase dresses, pinafores, and circle skirts in every shade of the rainbow and every print available. And then I kind of started to branch out..... So, when a couple of weeks ago I found a cute 1950's pattern with a darling circle skirt and a (insert swoon here) ... View the Post
$5 Friday…The Napkin Skirt
Last week I was at a thrift store with Elizabeth when I found a set of 4 olive green vintage napkins for half off their $2.99 price tag. I instantly knew what I wanted to do with them and between that idea, their coolness, and the price, I just couldn't pass them up. The very next day I made Grace this skirt. I used two of the napkins. I cut the lace off of the two sides and sewed them together making the tube. Then I cut off the top fourth of the napkin to make it the right length. And ... View the Post

St. Patrick’s Wrist Cuff
A long time ago I saw a bunch of cameo hair bands at Dollar Tree. I didn't know what to do with them but I liked them and bought a pile. Then I brought them home and almost instantly they became lost in the craft room of doom. Until last week... ...when I uncovered them (while hunting for receipts for the tax man). I had just made Gracie's wrist cuff/headband and wanted a little St. Patrick's something for myself. So here it is: My St. Patrick's Day wrist cuff. Because I am lazy I kept the ... View the Post
Painting the roses red….errrr…..PINK!
I am still doing skirts. Are you sick if them yet? (Sorry if you are....) I have this one and one more on the way and then I am switching to Easter outfits for the fam.... but I am pretty excited about this one. I love to take simple shapes or concepts and make them into something new....it's my favorite thing to to. So, for this skirt I combined the rolled roses that have been so popular with a skirt....and here's what I got. "The Painting the Roses Skirt." Here's how you make ... View the Post
