Levi Extensions

Like Elizabeth, I am having "too short" issues with my daughter's clothes. However, our problem is with pants. Her Levi's to be exact. Gracie has gotten too tall for her Levi's but with spring almost here I refuse to go out and buy a bunch of new pants. I just can't afford it. But I also don't want her running around like a hillbilly. (No offense to any hillbillies that may be reading this post.) So here's my solution---5 minutes with my sewing machine and some white eyelet scraps...It ... View the Post

3 things to do with some white Kona cotton….Project 1.

I love kona cotton.  I really do.  The quality is great and always washes up so much nicer than other broadcloth.  (I do use cheaper broadcloth...trust me...but I do love Kona cotton--it has a much better thread count than most broadcloth but is still so soft.)  Lots of quilters use it for that reason.....but I love it for clothing.  It is the best. And I have quite a bit of white at the moment....so I am intent on making some things with it.  Hence, stick around for some more things with white ... Flour Sack Nightie

I love flour sacks. They feel clean and crisp and old all at the same time. And because I love them I am always trying to think of ways that I can use them. This is what I came up with recently...some new night gowns for my little girl. (She loves night gowns as much as I love flour sacks.) Here's what I did: I roughly traced the outline of a favorite nightgown onto some butcher paper. Then I got rid of the sleeves and added few inches over the shoulders to make straps that would button. ... View the Post

The Bustle Skirt Tutorial.

*This tutorial is for personal use only.  Please contact us to buy a limited-use permit to sell any item made from this tutorial.* The tutorial you (or I should say I) have been on pins and needles for..... The Bustle Skirt. A couple of notes that people have asked that are not answered in the tutorial. What type of fabric did you use? Both the yellow and the purple skirts are bottomweight fabric.  The yellow fabric was $1.50 on red tag clearance, which I think I ... View the Post

$5 Friday…Embellished Pillowcases

The other day I discovered that the Dollar Store now sells pillowcases. And after watching Fantastic Mr. Fox (one of my favorites) I felt like whipping some foxy pillowcases for our weekly Friday Night Family Camp Out.So $1 pillowcases plus fabric from the scrap bin equals this week's $5 Friday project.PS...About the quality of the pillowcases...not the highest...they will work for laying around on the floor in a pile of blankets and eating popcorn..but maybe not for the guest bedroom...just so ... A Pincushion.

Someone asked me about the pincushion that was on the skirt segment.....and so I am posting a picture.  I just made it up but I found a  great tutorial  that will probably be easier than my made-up way.  Also if you haven't voted, will you please?  Here is the link...and it's #2 "The bustle skirt."  Thanks all. ...
