When I first started quilting...it terrified me. I imagined that there was "one right way" to quilt and that if I didn't know how to do it right....I couldn't do it. But over the last 2 or so years that I have made quilts I have come to realize two things-- (1) There is no right and wrong way of quilting (just ask quilters how they press their seams!) and (2) it doesn't have to be a perfect quilt to be loved. And this pink quilt is no exception to the imperfect quilt fact----but I know it ... View the Post

This is the story of my Golden Blinged Sewing Machine and how I fell in love with sewing.
This is my first sewing machine: Alright...so it wasn't a golden blinged sewing machine when I got it...but it is now. Here's the story: Years ago (and I mean almost 2 decades ago) when I was a newlywed my mom bought me a sewing machine (this sewing my machine as a matter of fact) for Christmas. And I HATED it. REALLY HATED IT. Like...I cried. Why would my mom buy me such an archaic, repressive, stereotypical gift? Me! The girl who hated all things domestic...the girl who would rebelled ... View the Post

Today we are so excited to announce our new partnership with our friends at and we couldn't be more thrilled. National Serger Month is a month filled with projects that you can make on your serger and you even have a chance to win a Babylock Ovation serger. ... View the Post
There’s no green. And it’s all my fault….
I think I have mentioned before, but we are "in between" houses right now....we are a couple of weeks out of moving into our new house (due to some construction) and so we are living out of suitcases at my parents' house who were gracious enough to take in 5 more people. And since we are living out of suitcases, there were a couple of sad kids yesterday that realized that their mother packed them NOTHING green to wear for St. Patrick's Day. Nope, not one green thing. Mom fail. So we borrowed ... View the Post
Down the middle quilt…
I have been making a few quilts lately. This one was a gift.....for a friend who loves all things bright colors! It made me branch out a bit more than I normally do with colors....but I think I need to do that more often because although the fabrics are not usually something I would put together I do I love how bright, cheery and fun it looks! I just did a simple strip quilt with a piece of main fabric down one-third of it. And I do love strip quilts...because they are fast! I did the ... View the Post
Round Robin Quilt Block
Today I am participating with Becky in her Around the Block Quilt Series, where so many fantastic quilting people are making their favorite quilt blocks and sharing them. And it really was an honor when she asked me to participate. I still consider myself a new quilter. So when she asked that we make our favorite block, I decided that because I am so new to quilting that whatever block I am working on is on is usually my favorite! I think that is the way it will be for awhile.....until I ... View the Post
