Hello! Today I am excited to be sharing how to make one of my girls favorite hair accessories…hair tie bows!
These hair tie bows are easy to make, are great gifts to put together for gifts, and are a perfect scrap busting project!
Here is what you will need to make them:
*The free downloadable pattern that you can get HERE
*2 pieces of fabric each about 8″x 4″
*A hair tie
And here are the instructions:
#1. Print out the free downloadable pattern (found HERE) and use it to cut out 2 pieces of fabric.
#2. Place your two pieces of cut fabric on top of each other with right sides together and sew around the perimeter using a 1/4″ seam allowance. Leave a 1 inch opening for turning. (I leave my opening along the middle of one of the sides as shown in the photograph.)
#3. Using pinking shears (or the method of your choice) clip the curves of your bow without cutting through your stitching.
#4. Using the opening you left in the stitching turn your bow right sides out. Press.
*Note: At this point you can also hand stitch the opening closed however, I don’t do that. If you left the opening in the middle of the bow the opening will be covered when you tie the bow.
#5. Slide your bow through your elastic hair tie so that the hair tie is centered in the middle of your bow.
#6. Tie in a knot and fluff.
And you are done!
Repeat as many times as necessary.
