What is Hot Honey and How Do You Use it?
Hot Honey seems to be everywhere right now and everyone keeps asking me if I want it drizzled on my food. I don’t know? Do I? What the heck is it? What will it do to my food? And…could it possibly change my culinary life?!?!?!

With these questions in mind I went on a Hot Honey Quest.
Here’s what I discovered:
What is Hot Honey?
Well, Hot Honey is a sweet and spicy condiment made by infusing honey with chili peppers or hot sauce. It combines the natural sweetness of honey with a fiery kick, creating a bold, balanced flavor that’s incredibly versatile.
All right then! Sweet plus heat. I’m in.
Where Can I Get This?
Aside from it being on loads of current menus you can find Hot Honey at your local grocery store hanging out right next to the regular honey.
Or…I have ordered my favorite one here on Amazon:

However, if you are feeling adventurous there are recipes to make you own all over the internet. And while I haven’t tried any of them THIS ONE from Garlic Salt and Lime looks especially good!
Ok….now that we know what it is how and why would I use it?
What To Put Hot Honey On:
Because right now people are putting Hot Honey on pretty much everything I’ve broken up some of the most popular options into 3 categories; savory, sweet, and beverages and then listed my favorites in each category. Here we go….
For SAVORY….drizzle on:
*Fried Chicken or Chicken Tenders
*Pizza!!! (I LOVE it on BBQ Pizza…it is life changing!)
*Cornbread (so good)
*Roasted Vegetables (I like it best with Brussel sprouts and carrots.)
*Sandwiches
*Seafood (shrimp, salmon, tilapia, etc.)
*Grain bowls
*Cheese! (Especially as a spicy addition to charcuterie boards.)
*Breakfast foods (waffles, sausages, hash, etc.)
***It is also a great to include as or with a glaze on BBQ meats….especially chicken!
***It can be mixed in with vinaigrettes to add some sweet heat to salads.
As for SWEET you can add a touch Hot Honey to:
*Ice Cream (think vanilla bean, dark chocolate brownie, or mango gelato)
*Fruit (watermelon and peaches are my favorite)
*Cheesecake
For BEVERAGES you can add Hot Honey to:
*Hot Tea
*Mixed Drinks
Now, while I’m no expert on Hot Honey I am a new enthusiast and thus far I’ve enjoyed the journey of adding some sweet heat to flavors I hadn’t thought about before….especially that BBQ Pizza….oh my gosh that was so good!!!!
Did I miss any of your favorite Hot Honey combinations?
If so, please share!
