Hello. Today is officially the first day of summer vacation here at our homes. (School ended yesterday!!!! HOORAY!!!) So we are busy planning out both lazy days and adventures for the days ahead. Which reminds me...yesterday I said we'd tell you all about the adventure Elizabeth and I were going on today...but plans have changed...we'll explain over on Facebook later this afternoon. But for now here's a post we shared over at Tatertots and Jello a few weeks ago that is perfect for ... View the Post
Teacher Appreciation….a simple gift.
Last week I shared the chevron baby quilt I made for a teacher appreciation gift and today I am sharing the last one. My oldest son's teacher is an avid reader and has a kindle, so I thought a gift certificate for more e-reader books and a handmade case were the perfect gift for her. It got to her a bit behind teacher appreciation week (I told you I am behind in everything right now) but hopefully it will get used this summer. And my favorite wrapping has always been brown paper packages ... View the Post
A Do it Yourself PVC Pipe Cabana (and some other fun PVC projects for kids)
Every year for the past few years Elizabeth and I have built some sort of summer PVC project for our kids and this year is no exception. This year's PVC project may just be my favorite so far.And the kids LOVE it.In fact Simon's been working up a routine to do with it to earn a little extra summer cash.Ok, so maybe the four-foot-man-eating-chicken routine was really all my idea. But with him willing to dress up and humor me by posing like a crazy person for a few minutes I just couldn't help ... If I could make-over my kitchen…
A few weeks ago I got an email asking me if I could make-over my kitchen what would I do. (Enough to cover the entryway, family room, hallways, dining area and kitchen.)And I was excited. The next day while I was out running errands he got to work and when I came home not only were all the floors and furniture on our entire main floor missing but so were ... View the Post
Sewing Secrets: Pattern Cutting
One sewing secret (although I don't think it is really that secret) that I like to do is to cut patterns out all at once. Once a week my husband has late meetings, so I usually use that time to cut patterns of things that I want to make that next week. It's the time of night that my kids are in bed, I can spread things out on the floor and make a huge mess while listening to a good movie. I usually spend 1-2 hours going to town pinning and cutting out every pattern that is in my ... View the Post
A Five Minute Pillowcase How To and A Riley Blake Fabric Giveaway!
Ok...maybe it's a 15 or 20 minute pillowcase if you count the time it takes to cut it out. But I swear it's crazy easy and in honor of the first annual National Serger Month I used a serger to make it. (I actually don't have a serger of my own but I borrowed my moms for this project and it was AWESOME!!! Now I need to start saving up for one of my own!) ***NOTE***Since publishing this post I now have a baby lock Evolution serger of my own...it is AMAZING...and I have used it to put together ...
