So over the past few weeks my husband and I have been agonizing over homes. And I mean agonizing. I think I have talked to every single builder in a 30 mile radius...and walked through every existing home for sale in the same area. My husband and I sit on our computers late into the night pouring over the floor plans, number of rooms, and yard size combinations that will fit into our budget. And our realtor is ready to pay US to buy a house. But it's a big decision. It's where I ... View the Post
The Art of Homemaking: On Slowing Down…
(source) Both liZ and I feel like we have been running ragged these last couple of months and with summer break beginning this next week I was trying to think about summer goals. I was thinking about making calendars with an activity to do everyday or a summer "bucket list" or getting bins ready to keep everyone busy. And then it hit me.....I don't want to do any of those things this summer, I just want to slow down. Not that there is anything wrong with summer "bucket lists" or planning ... View the Post
The Art of Homemaking: It isn’t always about YOU (or me)
Awhile back I was grocery shopping when I saw a woman who lives nearby. Our paths had crossed several times but we didn't really know each other however I decided to go over and say hello. Which I did. Her response was nothing more than eye contact, a blank stare, and her going out of her way to back up her shopping cart and drive it around me. What the heck? My writing isn't spectacular but these lessons have been super important to me. ... View the Post
The Art of Homemaking: How To Get The Clean Laundry Put Away
Laundry is the thing that never ends. Ever. Even when I am "all caught up" on laundry I'm really not because the clothes that I am wearing right then will still need to be washed. It's a vicious cycle and at any time you could drop by my house and find a pile mountain of laundry on my couch waiting to be folded. But awhile back my mom had an idea that has helped in my battle against laundry: Individualized Storage Bins One afternoon she arrived at my house with some ... View the Post
The Art of Homemaking: Homemade White Bread Recipe
On Monday I promised you my homemade white bread recipe and today I am delivering good on my promise. I really love this bread recipe because it turns out every time and is easy enough to still make for dinner if I start it by 4 pm. From start to finish it is about 1 1/2 hours and makes the house smell delicious. And the best part about it.....I can make the kids eat leftovers (or soup!) if there is a loaf or two of fresh bread to go with it ;) A mom's dream... Homemade White Bread ... View the Post
