I first starting making a quilt when my oldest was just a baby. I was looking for something to do every day that couldn't be undone and I saw a lady at church who had made a beautiful faux chenille quilt for her grandbaby. So, I got up enough nerve to ask her to show me how to do it, borrowed my mother-in-law's sewing machine, went and bought fabric and made one. I think it was the worst thing I have ever made---but I was so proud of it. Yes, the seams were wonky, the binding looked so bad ... View the Post
Pair Number Three—Edna’s Glasses
So, this is my third pair of Firmoo glasses.I'm usually a contacts girl versus a glasses girl but Firmoo is doing their best to change that...and it's working...much to my surprise. When I ordered this pair of glasses I finally got the pair I've looked at since my very first trip over to Firmoo's website: They totally remind me of something Edna Mode would wear.(Who's Edna Mode? One of my favorite Disney characters of all time----the fashion designer extraordinaire from "The Incredibles".) ... View the Post
Smoking Pizzas and Exploding Potatoes
I have this problem...I can't bake any number of potatoes without at least one of them exploding in my oven. This is true. Here are the facts:1. We have baked potatoes with our dinner at least once a week.2. I always cook at least one extra potato because I KNOW that at least one of my little spuds is bound to turn itself inside out all over the interior of my oven.3. I am forever cleaning potato guts out of my oven.4. No, I don't wrap my potatoes in aluminum foil...but I know I ... View the Post
Easy Fabric Bookmark and some thoughts….
I know I alluded to this last week, but things are beyond busy around these parts. I am sure they are in your homes too. The end of school is so close (but not close enough) so it's just been running around like crazy. This week we have 6 evening events in 5 nights---and I haven't peeked at the calendar next week. I can only handle so much.... On top of that there are some big blog things going on behind the scenes (with some major deadlines to boot) so I certainly feel like I am swimming ... View the Post
Simple Simon’s New Look
Hi.What's going on? Last week we made an unexpected change over here and think we should probably put up a quick post with an explanation. So here it is:Elizabeth and I have been in the process of doing a little housekeeping and redecorating over here at Simple Simon and Company. We are reorganizing the layout, fixing up the tutorial page, linking to Facebook, getting a new header, adding some buttons, etc. and last week our designer surprised us by putting up the new look live. ... Holi Fest or The Story of What Really Happened to Gracie’s Hair
Yesterday on Facebook I posted a picture of Gracie's currently lime green hair and asked if any of you could guess what had happened to it...that was kind of an unfair question...there was pretty much no way you were ever going to guess. Sorry...I wasn't trying to be difficult...ok, maybe I was but today I'll explain what happened. Here's the story of how I turned Grace's hair green: Saturday was Holi Fest at the Sri Sri Radha Krishna Lotus Temple. It's an annual event and loads of fun so when my ... View the Post
