A Quilting Space

I've had quite a few sewing spaces over the years...all of them very different. I started out setting up a small rectangular table in the family room while my two oldest were young. It was great for that stage in my life because I could watch the two of them play and be close to them and sneak in a few minutes of sewing or quilting in the afternoons. It was also a bit hard because I was also constantly having to put things away and watch out for scissors and pins....but I was just excited to ... View the Post

My Small Sewing Space

Today I get to share with you my small sewing space. I would be lying if I said I didn't want a spacious sewing studio with a pool table sized cutting tables, grand windows, beautiful hardwood floors, and walls lined with shelves full of expensive fabric.  BUT...even though that would be crazy awesome and I would love it...I can't complain.  I have carved out for myself a small sewing nook that I use everyday and LOVE (a lot) even if it won't ever be on the cover of a magazine. ... It's the first Monday of the month which means it's time for our Quilt Block of the Month! This month we are doing a heart quilt block for Valentine's Day.  This block was not included on our Quilt Block of the Month Quilt...it is a "bonus block" that can easily be made into a mini quilt or a pillow...however it finishes the same size as the blocks used in the quilt ( 16" x16") and can be substituted for any one of them! (For all the information about the blocks for each month of the year, ... View the Post

DIY Heart Valentine Gloves

I am usually about simple things for Valentine's Day around here, but the other day we spotted these red gloves in one of the dollar bins and I thought they would be a fun little something for a Valentine treat.  And since the weather is still so cold here in February, gloves will still be worn a lot in the month of February! If you would like to make some too, they are simple and fast for an afternoon project....here's what you do. ... View the Post

Snowman Handwarmers

This post is sponsored by Wayfair. Today we are taking part in the Wayfair's Spectacular Snow Day Campaign for great DIY's and recipes that everyone can make during a snow day...and today's tutorial is one that we definitely need with all the snow and cold we have had this winter! I am a big fan of handwarmers, probably because my hands are always cold.  These handwarmers are filled with rice and after they are made, you put them in the microwave for about 15-20 seconds and then slip ...
