Hey! It's the first Saturday of March so that means it's time to announce all the days we have to celebrate this coming month...you know...so you can start planning for National Potato Chip Day and Something on a Stick Day... But before we get to the calendar... this month the nation will be celebrating three things that we can fully endorse: Crafting, Quilting, and Women because March is officially National Craft Month, National Quilting Month, and National Women's History Month!!! What’s Black and White and Sewn Together???
Grace's new "dress shirt" of course! It's actually made from strips of the most delicious velvet ribbon from The Ribbon Retreat and some of Riley Blake's neon pink cotton. For awhile now Grace has wanted a "dress shirt" (a shirt that looks like a dress and is fancy but that she can wear pants and no slip with) so I finally made her one. And it was a hit. For the complete tutorial head on over to The Ribbon Retreat where we have posted the how-to. But before you go... Awhile ago ... View the Post
Scrumptious Quilt
Do you ever feel like you are always a month behind? I so naively thought that as my kids grew up that life would slow down and I could get caught-up on projects. Um....apparently not. I feel like life is busier than ever right now. SNAP! (And a surprise…for one of you)
Often Elizabeth and I feel so fortunate for the opportunities that we are lucky enough to enjoy...and this is one of those times. For the past several years we've attended, volunteered, and taught at the SNAP conference...and it's become an annual event for us. We love it. There is so much positive energy and the attendees are always so much fun we can't help but leave reenergized and happy to have been a part of it. So when we were asked about organizing a sewing room for SNAP we jumped at ... View the Post
The Art of Homemaking: Why My Grandma is Getting a Shark in the Mail
Here are the facts: *In January Elizabeth and I attended ALT. *One of the sponsors at ALT was Shark vacuums...and I got obsessed with their Rocket vacuum and steamer. (To the point that I was vacuuming the floors, rugs, couches, my pants, whatever all over the hotel instead of going to class with Elizabeth...and then was so loud with all my vacuuming they had to shut the doors to the classrooms to keep all my noise out. True Story.) *Then one of the Shark ladies told me that I could enter a ... View the Post
Personalized Polka Dotted Aprons: A How To
Grace has a wonderful kindergarten teacher who often wears aprons. So awhile back when Grace wanted to give her a gift we decided to make her a "fancy" apron with her initial on it. We started with a premade, canvass apron. And some Tulip Beads in a bottle: Then I drew out her initial on some copy paper and placed it where we thought it looked best on the apron: And then we started to make dots! The dots were easy to make we just squeezed the paint straight out of the bottle and ... View the Post
