An Old Fashioned Christmas Tree Skirt Tutorial and Free Pattern

Yes, I know Halloween was just yesterday but Elizabeth and I have more holiday projects, tutorials, activities, and announcements planned than there are days to share them on so we need to get started. First in line is this Christmas Tree skirt that I shared over the summer over at The Moda Bake Shop. (When I made it Christmas seemed so far away and now it's right around the corner!) When it comes to Christmas I'm always looking to the past...I love anything traditional, vintage, and ... View the Post

15 Minute Halloween Tote

I shared this a couple of weeks ago over at Craft Snob....but it's perfect for today!  And if you have a dishtowel and 15 minutes....you can still make a couple! Hi everyone!  I am Elizabeth, one half of the duo of sisters-in-law who blog at Simple Simon and Company.  We love all things family, sewing, the art of homemaking and in between try to maintain our own sanity!  But that's one of the reasons we love to sew....it gives us something to do everyday that cannot be undone.  And we love ... How to Surprise and Fascinate your Kids While Carving Pumpkins and some Roasted Pumpkin Seed Recipes

What bugs me most about my husband also happens to be the exact thing I love most about him: he's just a big kid.  It's a complicated thing...but it's what leads me to come home and find a giant slide installed in the basement or the bottom half of the kitchen counter tops turned into 6 feet of magnet boards or the kids riding down the steps on a mattress or...well...you get the picture. But sometimes, sometimes he has ideas that are brilliant (although I'll never admit it) and two nights ago he ... The Rain in Spain…… {My Fair Lady Costume}

I had well-intended plans of doing a bigger photo shoot for this costume.  I knew exactly where I wanted to go (I found an awesome older golf course nearby that had the perfect rolling hills) but good intentions were a bust when this girlie caught a bad cold over the weekend and didn't feel good at all.  So, for most of the weekend she was watching old movies and coughing.  Poor thing.  But she still wanted to do some pictures....so, we went to our usual picture-stomping-ground and snapped 4 ... Dresses· Halloween

It’s Wednesday on a Monday…A Wednesday Addams Halloween Costume that is.

 A few months ago I became obsessed with the idea that Grace would make a perfect Wednesday Addams for Halloween. But...I always let my kids choose what they want to be for Halloween (Remember the shrieking eel, plate of spaghetti, and elevator costumes?) so I decided that I would make the costume for my own entertainment and then just let her still be whatever she wanted. And so I started googling images of Wednesday Addams. Surprisingly I found that her dress changed over the years ... View the Post

Hello! Welcome to our last week of Super Scary Sewing Stories 2013. By now you know what this is all about so lets get scary!
