Project Run and Play· Sew for Boys· Tutorials

Suspenders Tutorial

This morning I realized that I never posted the suspenders tutorial I made for Project Run and Play on on our blog so.......since #1 suspenders are on my mind (due to the fact that I'm making some red ones for Grace this week) and #2 I've spent all my spare time talking to Elizabeth about our super exciting news (which we will be sharing VERY soon) instead of sewing I give you the suspenders tutorial. I love suspenders. I think it comes with being a product of the 80's and the fact that I had ... View the Post

I Wub Bacon

Actually, I don't really "wub bacon". I don't even like it. But somebody I know can't get enough of it. In fact she loves all meat---especially the kinds I think are scary. Like hot dogs. Which is how I got the idea for her bacon shirt. Way back here, when I made her and Simon mo williams pigeon shirts, Grace was sad because hers didn't have a hot dog. That's when I decided that Grace would enjoy meat themed T-shirts. And I was right. Too bad it took me so long to make her one. ... View the Post

Halloween

The Art of Homemaking: Creative License—Sometimes it’s Hard to Hand it Over

Want to guess what my 3 year old chose to be for Halloween this year? I'll give you a hint... ...she isn't a KISS groupie. (Don't be ridiculous. She doesn't even know who Gene Simmons is. MC Hammer, maybe but Gene Simmons...like I said, don't be ridiculous.) No idea? You give up? That's what I thought. That's why I made the sign. And the sign doesn't lie. That's right my beautiful little girl chose to be a shrieking eel for Halloween. (You know, "Those are the shrieking eels your ... View the Post

Thrifted Thursday: Another Way to Use Vintage Trims

Yesterday I worked on some new shirts for Grace. The poor girl doesn't really have any clothes that fit so I bought her some plain T-shirts ($3.88 at Wal-Mart) and have been busy gussying them up. As almost everyone knows, I save everything...and that includes trim and ribbon scraps. In the basement lurks a bin holding random scraps of yarns, ribbons, and trims just waiting for the day when they might come in useful. And yesterday was that day.  I used random scraps of leftover vintage lace ... View the Post
