An Easter Post

So, one Easter outfit has been ready for awhile....it's just Hannah's dress that is giving me grief (dress #2 actually).  Hopefully I can finish it up this morning and show you tonight...(if the weather is good enough for some pictures.  I have this idea for a photo shoot.....and I need good weather.) I made Isaac's pants using Oliver + S's Sailboat Pants Pattern (this pattern was a total splurge for me).....but I love, love, love the way they came out.  I used a heavier-weight twill fabric ... Something Old, Something New, Something Borrowed, Something Blue

Recently I went to the bridal shower my friend was having for her daughter. This is part of the gift that I took: I went with the idea of that old saying something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue. What was old? The apron was made using a pattern from the 50's and out of a vintage sheet I had purchased awhile back. (I really, really loved that fabric.) What was new? In her package were some spanking new oven mitts and hot pads---the exact color of the waistband on her ... View the Post

Some stretch lace leggings.

I have mentioned before on the blog that Hannah is a skirt girl. And so I am always on the lookout for cute leggings to wear with skirts. I have made them out of clearance t-shirts, ruffle fabric, and now STRETCH LACE which I am dying over. Do you think I could get away with a pair for me? I didn't take pictures for a tutorial while making this pair (because I had to re-make them a couple of times before getting them right.  Let me warn you right now stretchy lace...is VERY stretchy). But, if ... View the Post

Easter Dress: Take 1

Over the weekend I finished up what I thought would be Gracie's Easter dress. This is it: I like it. It's simple and classic and an ENTIRE SIZE TOO BIG!!!! (I guess that is what I get for doing all my sewing while the person I am sewing for is asleep.) The pattern (one I have that is so old it has a patten number instead of a copyright date) is a size 2. And although Grace is almost 3 she is tiny and usually wears size 2 clothing. I thought it would be a perfect fit...but...I thought wrong. It ... View the Post

Patterns

Guess what came in the mail today……

MORE vintage patterns.....and I think I am in love.  (I know I say that about every pattern, but take a look at these beauties and I think you will agree.) I bought them all in a lot of 30 patterns off of ebay and even with shipping they turned out to be around 40 cents each.  SCORE.  I should wait until $5 Friday, but I couldn't stand it and I had to share. By the way, I tried to only pick a couple favs...but even that wasn't possible. I have already cut out an Easter dress and have a ... View the Post
