And for all of you who know us, once we get a theme in our heads---we can't quite leave it alone. So we made a quilt for our own little princesses to dream of their own story. I love this quilt. It is simple....and made with scraps! What's not to love about that? I did take a few pictures of how I did it....so that you can make your own too. First I cut 2" strips of the leftover fat quarters from the Peggie people story. The fabric is Riley Blake's Willow line. Then ... View the Post

Baby Coin Quilt
(Don't I have the best assistant ever? And thankfully she has a thing for gold shoes as well...) I told you earlier that one of my goals this year was to do a bit more quilting. It's been kind of a full-circle thing, because baby blankets and quilts were some of the first things I started sewing again after my first was born. And it's been really enjoyable to have a quilting project going that I can pick up and leave in between garment sewing. This one was a baby quilt for a cousin's ... View the Post
A Chevron Quilt and some scraps.
Happy Thursday everyone! I don't know what it is about this week, but I am ready for a weekend. I think it might be all the last-minute HUGE school projects that we are trying to get tucked away before the end of the year--but I will be happy when they are turned in and done. It's been a LOT of homework time. Also this week I have been working on some quilting projects. The hexagon quilt is finally back from Melissa's sewing shop and is ready to bind, which I am dying to get done. The ... View the Post
Works in Progress.
While busily finishing up Hannie's Spring look book (which I just have button holes to do on one more item!) I have been slowly working on some other projects. I actually found this quilt top that I started over 2 years ago (it's probably way closer to 3 years ago) that I never finished. It's funny because the fabric would not be my first choice today....but I remember when I bought it I was enthralled with the words written on it. (It was when fabric was just coming out with ... A Five Minute Pillowcase How To and A Riley Blake Fabric Giveaway!
Ok...maybe it's a 15 or 20 minute pillowcase if you count the time it takes to cut it out. But I swear it's crazy easy and in honor of the first annual National Serger Month I used a serger to make it. (I actually don't have a serger of my own but I borrowed my moms for this project and it was AWESOME!!! Now I need to start saving up for one of my own!) ***NOTE***Since publishing this post I now have a baby lock Evolution serger of my own...it is AMAZING...and I have used it to put together ... A Pinwheel Quilt and some thoughts…
“Nobody starts out a perfect quilter.” ― Sandra Dallas When my oldest was a baby and I had quit my teaching job, I needed something to do. Then one Sunday I saw a beautiful baby quilt at church that one of the older ladies in my neighborhood had made, so I asked her to show me how to make one. It was my first taste of sewing again and my very first taste of quilting.... I have done a few simple strip-quilts over the years, but found myself more drawn to sewing apparel. But late last ...
